I have been thinking of making an all grot army. Well mostly grot army anyway I still want a plane and I will have a Warboss of course. The question is does anyone think that this is a viable army? Can it win on a "friendly" game level where people are not power listing or points optimizing?
warboss
big mek kff or sag (i think the sag would be more "fluffy"
ADL/Bastion/one of the new kits maybe even a fortress of redemption or something of the like
plane (cause they look cool and they do have a grot gunner
2 units of big guns both zap guns cause really that will be all you have for anti armor
a unit of cans (they are grots and I want them to all be in there

How many grots would I need and what points level to be some what competitive?

sorry if this is in the wrong place but I think that the point of this is to discuss the tactics of grots beyond a squad of 19 as back objective holders.

Stikk bommas are special among ork society for one reason - They know when you pull the pin out of a stikk bomb you throw the bomb not the pin!

Well, the biggest issue with this army is that it is going to be HUGE in terms of model count. It will take forever and a day. Grots are not going to kill much and they can be swept fairly easily (they do not have mob rule, so they have to go off leadership 7 of the runtherders)

Grot tanks from forgeworld will probably be your best course as well.

Definitely max out on your Big Guns unit. These are arguably one of the best HS options in the game for their price.

I would love to see this army in action, but I would not expect much from it.

What's the points of the Friendly Game? I did 1k (everything else seems like too much). This is not a competitive list by any stretch of the imagination. But it would certainly be fun. I didn't use the IA 8 Dread Mob List. But no matter what they all get +5 Invulnerable Save, and the Unit that has Grotsnik gets FNP.

HQ
Grotsnik, Cybork
Big Mek SAG, Cybork, Burna, Ammo Runt, Bosspole
Troop
15 Gretchin +Runtherd (16 Cybork)
2x 10 Gretchin +Runtherd (11 Cybork)
Heavy Support
3 Big Gunz (Kannons, 6 Cybork, 3 Ammo Runts)
3 Big Guns +Runtherd (Kannons, 13 Cybork, 6 Extra Crew)
3 Killa Kanz (Big Shoota, 2 Grotzookas)

You can make the grot army a lot more competitive with some creative modelling - fluffwise, this represents jealous grots inventing stuff to emulate their ork masters. A simple example: a grot in an armoured exoskeleton/mini-robot counts-as a meganob. So long as you keep everything close to the same dimensions as what they count-as, and make the weapons obvious, few opponents will complain.

Grots are not units that a fielded because they are good. How good can something be when you can field 11 for 40 points.
A grots low profile makes them attractive and nothing else. They shoot almost twice as well as their cousins the Orks. But they don't get Mob Rules or any of the other bonuses that an Ork army gets. This is actually done on purpose. So if you use the codex but proxy grots. You opponent will think that you are cheating because you are using half size models as Orks. If you make the regular orks cost a 3rd less (Rounded Up), and Lower every stat by 1 (except BS which is +1) no mob rule or Waaagh!, Changing everything, except the grot units themselves. Your opponent will think you are cheating, because amazingly Ork being such terrible shots, is what is keeping them from being awesome and you will take such things like KMB, Rokkit Launcha, and Snazzguns. Not to mention Defguns and Dakkagun being outright deadly. and would you lower the strength of all weapons by 1? Would the cost of the weapons be lower by a 3rd?
Would you roll a SAG with a -1 str, but all the detraments attached?
You could certain use snotlings to replace Ammo Runts, and Grot Riggers. You could even have snotling units if you wanted again -1 to everything and would be a 3rd of the cost - but seriously who would take a snotling unit - unless it was just a goof.
