I noticed a long time ago that many people have specific zones where they post and/contribute the most. Would it be possible to include a sort of ranking badge so that other users can see where you post the most without seeing the numbers?

For example, if you post a lot in the Warhammer40k Lore Forum, underneath your profile pic you get a tome icon that changes color depending on how many you write. It begins as white, fades to bronze, gold, and then finally turns to a charcoal with a white skull when you hit a certain benchmark (measured in thousands likely).

If someone hovers over it, they can read how many you've written. If they click on it, they can see where you've posted, just like you can on your profile.

Having the option of being able to choose which badge you want to present on your profile could be useful as well.

I'd also be ok with this being a perk / rewards program for DCMs, and I'd hope that it could be somewhat of an ongoing thing where a new badge may be awarded to people who host worldwide campaigns successfully, or otherwise do great things for the hobby while on this site.

Maybe play it a bit off of the exalt feature as well. So as to not promote a larger quantity of posts, but a higher quality for those who wish to pursue it.

Also I agree it could be useful for DCM, something general for them with a number to show the years total they've been. I'm thinking mostly that it helps differentiate them from the mods a bit more.

It's not a bad idea though, but possibly a pain to implement.

This would heavily promote making lots of short, uninformative posts instead of long, elaborated ones as well as benefit trolls who just post to post.

Denied!

Which is why I added it should go off of exalting instead of post count.

Yeah, it's an idea sig, not a demand. It can easily be brainstormed. WarpWatchers had it b4 they died and it made it easy to see which area a fan wad an expert in.

I've seen it work on other sites, don't see why it wouldn't work on Dakka.

I think based on exalts it could have some promise. I will investigate further but low priority.

Isn't that the point of a list?

I honestly don't think that this idea would end so well unless you made it like BoardGameGeek and you had various "special interest" badges you could stick under your name to show what stuff you supported. I always liked that system, but I don't know if Dakka has enough "special interests" to warrant such a system.

Badged.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
