Personally, I'd recommend a Skull Cannon as it is an effective support weapon for your Bloodletters; delivering an impressive large blast str8 and halting anything that may manipulate your Bloodletters initiative, as well as being rather cheap in 125 points.
In my experience, as Icelord has stated, Bloodcrushers have received a rather nasty nerf since their previous edition, and really do take unwanted damage from range weapons even with their pile of Wounds. However, they are pretty fast and I have found that if you get them in the right spot, you blissfully sip the tears from your opponents very eyes, but such a circumstance may probably require a unit than you actually have, as rest assured, you will take some nasty casualties from your Bloodcrushers, and this can be a both expensive and risky move. As well as that, you will need to put yourself in a situation where your Bloodcrushers are not going to receive a lot of range firepower, and this usually means pitting against a player who is using a heavy melee army.
