On your planet, burning your men!

Are all planets inhabited by mankind recovered(or rather reliberated ) or are there still zones in the galaxy that are isolated and haven't yet been renited with the empire?

Thanks in advance

Yep lots of planets that the crusade didn't get to.

One of the missions Astartes Chapters take on is space exploration and crusades to find old human worlds.

Lord Solar Mecharius was the last person to lead a great crusade and managed to reunite many lost human worlds

There are areas not yet re-discovered. O think a Soul Drinker's novel encounters humans not yet part of the Imperium. Much of the galaxy is classed as Wilderness Space and is completely unexplored. The Eastern Fringe also is fairly unknown as it lies at the very extreme range of the Astronomicon.

Rogue traders are also tasked with finding lost or undiscovered human colonies so the Imperium may bring them into the fold.

It is best to think of the Imperium not as a mass of contiguous, united regions (like, say, the continental US) but, instead, as tiny clusters of islands amidst a sea of utter darkness. People travel between the islands they know, following the well-established trade routes, but no one ever ventures out into the darkness... and lives to tell about it, anyway.

The requirement of the Warp to travel between distant worlds means that you can't just point your ship in any random direction and just fly somewhere. The vast majority of vessels follow known, stable routes through the Warp, but that means that there can be entire systems of worlds, inhabited by who-knows-what, in the spaces between star-systems that no one has visited since Humanity settled the stars.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Ghoul stars are mostly unexplored too.

I remember reading that from time to time, due to changes in the currents of the warp, entire star systems are "found" amidst areas of space that have long been explored.

Otherwise, look to the fringes of the galaxy - much of which is outside the range of the Astranomican - to find unaffiliated human colonies.

Interesting info, i'm researching a bit for the fluff for my own chapter, if anyone could link me up with a explanation of the galaxy and maybe even a map that would be great!

Its very likely that the Imperium doesn't even know about/have half the planets that mankind is living on.

Codex Imperialis (2nd Ed. Sourcebook) had a map with info and the 3rd Ed. Rulebook has info about the worlds of the Imperium. However for a really good fan made map just search the internet for 40K Galaxy Map and you should find at least two excellent ones.

In the BRB is a fluff section talking about lost human colonies, clinging on with savage determination, etc, etc. It could be well possible that some human ships lost in the warp were spat out in another galaxy.

There are numerous Imperial organisations still tasked with space exploration and the re-acquisition of lost human colonies, from the Ecclesiarchy's Missionarius Galaxia to the AdMech's Explorator Fleets to the Sisters Sabine.

Psienesis' description of the Imperium is, I believe, rooted in the 6E rulebook, which had a section about its astrogeographic structure.
