So I picked up a army and started playing a bunch of games. I am loving the necrons.there is a few local tournaments coming up and I was wondering if Necrons still are top tier? And should I bring allies? I was really thinking about CSM with a heldrake and some cultist and a HQ!

They are indeed top tier, and allies certainly would not go amiss.

necron/csm or gk have done well thus far... and are still top tier.

I am working adding tau to my crons to see how well they play together.. thought I think tau play nice with most allies.

Dont run allies, run pure Necrons. There are few armies that can still be top tier with out them and Necrons just so happen to be one of them.

altough there only 1 or two valid frames to build around, all the rest is crap.

If you are allowed to use Forgeworld stuff, take a look at IA 12. Some of the best Necron units are in there.
