Black Templar Recruit Undergoing Surgeries
|
I'm new to chaos and I'd like some advise on this army idea I have.
This list is meant to follow the background and be some what competitive.
1500 points
Dark apostle
3-35 man units of cultists w/flamers
2-10 man units of cultists
1-5 man unit of chosen with 50 points of cc accessories
2-5 man units of spawn
3-mauler fiends
The idea is to swamp him with lots of targets and have the two small cultist units grab objectives.
I would like some advise before buying. Thanks in advance.

that sounds pretty effective, but you're going to want someway to strike back. i'd advise a predator kitted out with lascannons. only 140 pts.

When you do have all the units, can you please play a few games where you upgrade cultist with MoT and tell me how it goes?

I saw this tactic used. It's brutally effective.
The cultists were all in one huge blob, not separate units, with the Dark Apostle to make them fearless.
Forgefiend was working backup, and a few mutilators and other various things. I don't remember, because the cultists did the most damage. They just swarmed the field, eating Necrons (the opposing army).
The Chaos player did not even bother trying to hold objectives, he just marched them down the board, using the Apostle to challenge squad leaders when he ran into them. Smash, poof.
If you're going to back them up, I would suggest some high AP fire support. That's really all you need.

Looks good.
I would suggest a second lord to make another squad fearless and trading in some of the smaller cultist units for standard CSMs for better objective sitting. Or punt a lord into a spawn unit to make them hit a little harder and prevent them being bogged down by high T creatures or AV 12 walkers
Ditch the chosen for anything! Possibly terminators to deep strike to help out or even a helbrute to run up and heavy flamer things - four AV12 models being better than three sort of thing.

I'm guessing Chosen are Dark Vengeance left over, but I assure you they are horrible. You would be much better served Dropping them for Mark of Nurgle on spawn, 10 T6 beasts are scary as heck to ALOT of armies.
Also finding the points for a level 3 unmarked sorcerer could be hilarious. Imagine a unit of 35 cultist or a big unit of spawning running forward with invisibility! The stuff of nightmares!
