The War in Heaven was over 60 million years ago.

The Old Ones were cold blooded reptiles.

Is this a fun hint that the Old Ones or Slann were actually evolved Dinosaurs that managed to escape Terra before the mass extinction event?

After all, Mankind has lived on Earth for not very long compared to the Dinosaurs who were around for millions of years! (maybe some of them were intelligent?!)

Funny, you should almost think the necrons' main armies gathered on Terra when the meteor struck...

OMFG! THE NECRONS ARE SLEEPING ON TERRA!
at least the nids won't be coming to 'nom it!

Or the Necrons are the reason the Old Ones went extinct on this planet.

The Necron Tomb heart could be our core, and Necron tech could be why there is/was:

1. an Ice Age
2. Tectonic movements

It says in the Necron codex there homeworld is in the very galactic north so no, but it could be a tomb world

Well even if they did become Old Ones and then 5 million years later the war in heaven happened that's still 5 million years which is an insane amount of time. Given that Humanity has had some amazing technological discoveries if you include the forgotten tech that was only 40k years of history which is fairly brief in the galactic scale of things...

Yes, the Slann were amphibians, like the are in Warhammer Fantasy. Bipedal frogs/salamanders. You could field them as a force back in 1st edition 40K.

I know, but Slann are (probably) not Old Ones. Also, amphibians are not reptiles.

The Old Ones created the Slann, Eldar, Jokaero, Orks, Umbra, and Hrud at the very least. It speaks to the lethality of the Necrons that nonse of these races succeeded in protecting their masters from the unliving legions.

The dinosaurs also went extinct about five million years before the end of the war in heaven.

There is however, a great deal of evidence to suggest that a shard of the Void Dragon sleeps on Mars.
