Dark Apostle + MoT
=120
2*(10 cultists)
=100
5 Chaos Terminators + RA + 5*MoT + IoF
=222
2*(2Obliterators + 2*MoN)
=312
120+100+222+312
=754

The DA is with the cultists.
This is for fun, not for tournaments. Working around standardized point totals for convenience.
Units picked based on what I like and then I attempted to optimize.

No tanks because I don't like them.

Planned additions would be Plague Marines and Warp Talons.

Looking for feedback based on whether or not this army composition could work.
Basic strategy would be to run the cultists around with the obliterators and terminators securing the board.

Considering how slow termies and obliterators move, I wouldn't bank on them running around securing objectives. Cultists are weak, especially in 10 man squads. Their advantages lie with their numbers. I would say find a way to get some normal CSM troops in there.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

I could bring it back down to 3 oblits and throw in more cultists.

Any other suggestions?

You have more cultists, which is good. Now you just need to place them all into one big blob, and put the Dark Apostle in with them.

5 Obliterators in a 750 pts army seems a bit too much to me.
I'd remove some obliterators, create a huge blob of 30 cultists and add a unit of Chaos Space Marines.

You can also consider to replace the Dark Apostle with a Lord with Mark of Nurgle, so as troops you could have:

30 cultists with Lord with MoN
7 Plague Marines with 2x Plasmaguns

The idea has always been to run all the cultists around the dark apostle, splitting them up as necessary to avoid blast templates. This is why they're NOT all in one unit.

Removing 1 or 2 obliterators would probably be replaced with warp talons.

Plague marines would be added to help bring this army up to 1000 points. Whether or not I run a Lord with a MoN to use them as troops depends on how many points I still have to spare.

And yes, the Dark apostle is going to be attached to the group of cultists with the flamer, while the autogunners are ran NEAR the DA.

Warp talons are cool, but I really can't suggest them. They have a startling lack of grenades and they NEED mark of slaanesh to keep there expensive butts from being beaten down by normal marines.

I'd agree one big cultist squad makes better use of the apostles fearless, so I'm thinking by dropping one Oblit you can have a unit of 10 cultists in reserve for getting home objective, while the unit of 20 stomps off to kill stuff. The unit of a single oblit deepstrikes as a melta suicide unit when it can, or if that isn't needed drops in to heavy flamer the other sides objective campers. There, you get your cultists and your oblits!

The warp talons would be used to deep strike for their blind (with the rest of their use being a complete bonus). I've considered putting a dimensional key on the DA.
