total 2000pts

I know its a bit of a gamble to put 3 Zoan in a pod but I dont feel them as beeing too much of a suicide unit in this army since by the time they can be shot at by the opponent they also have a flyrants that charged them and 2 big teams of guargoyles plus a doom of malantai thats messing him up, with hive guards shooting at them and the swarmlord which is getting closer and closer, and Tervigons sprouting dudes all over the place. so three of them would just allow them to do their thing for a bit longer

maybe the crushing claws are slightly wasted points on the Tervigons in this list since the opponnent wont try to get too close to them being as there is a swarmlord guarding them, maybe I can use those points more efficiently, what do you guys think?

I really like this list as is. If you want to add a little more turn 2/3 punch then I have a few suggestions.

- 1 Tyrant Guard so you can take advantage of the majority toughness rule if you get iron arm (very high chance- T7-9 W7 unit).
- CC off the Tervigons
- Catalyst off 1 Tervigon (Biomancy roll- no matter what you get it will be useful)
- 1 Zoanthrope (2 will take care of landraiders just fine)

+Harpy
+OA on the Flyrant.

A lot of peope underestimate the Harpy. For 160 points you get a FA Flyer, reliable TL anti infantry (not to mention spore mine cysts), 2 s10 smash attacks for land raider blitzing and a scoring unit for 1/6 missions. This will compliment your air assault punch nicely. OA on the flyrant will make the roidgoyles super pissed in combat AND shooting. They will have no choice but to deal with all the flying sh1t first while everything else drops/advances. This list not only has enough bodies to contest/claim objectives, but is also killy enough to potentially table any army at this point value (even DE).

40 Gargs is going to be mean. Agree with dropping the CC on Trevi but think you should keep Catalyst for 2 Bio rolls.

If you have enough points out of that get a third TG, and run one on the swarmy and 2 unattached. It is always nice to have more T6 3+ bodies.

I love me some Swarmlord, but I don't think he fits in this list. Why not go all out on the flier/MTO type build? Take a second Flyrant and that Harpy. Then outflank a Tervigon with Hive Commander. Give this one a pair of scything talons (cheap) and BOTH pscyhic powers so you get 3 rolls on Biomancy. Then you've got the pods, and the gargoyles. It's a load. Swarmy walking behind just makes it easy for your opponent to prioritize targets. Just my .02

im still really unsure about the harpy and I dont have a model for it so I think I would leave that idea out but the OA seems like a really good idea given the amount of guargoyles I have and this makes me consider the devilgaunts in a pod too.

the SwarmLord is there to bodyguard the tervigons and to create a strong middle that no one wants to get close to.

new list could look a bit like this

340 1x Swarmlord / 1x Tyrant Guard
285 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / OA / 2x TL Devourer BLW

185 1x Tervigon / TS / Feel no Pain power
185 1x Tervigon / TS / Feel no Pain power
55 11x Termagaunts
190 15x Termagaunts / Devourer - Mycetic spore

160 2x Zoanthrope - Mycetic Spore
130 1x Doom of Malantai - Mycetic Spore
150 3x Hive guard

160 20x Guargoyles / TS / AG
160 20x Guargoyles / TS / AG

total 2000pts

what do you guys think?

That list has a lot of nice variety. One of the (few) strengths of Tyranids - who are sadly mono-build at the moment - is target priority. Saturate the board with lots of threats that an opponent has few turns with which to deal before getting swarmed.

I have been using the Swarmlord + 1 Tyrant Guard for exactly the reasons listed here: majority toughness rule. A lot of people will either spend ALL of their firepower trying to take him out (which means the rest of your army is in tact), or they will just ignore him. He also protects nearby Tervigons, as no one wants to charge one, not kill it, and then receive a swift death at the hands of the Swarmlord. He dominates the middle of the board, short of facing down Draigo and his stupid anti-psyker grenades.

I'd pull CC off of the Tervigons, buy Catalyst for both, but exchange one of the psychic power sets for Biomancy. The key is really to play it a few times and then tweak, rather than tweak a bunch before playing.

Crushing Claws taken out - check

if you look at the FAQ for Nids you can either exchange all powers for BRB powers or none of them, cant only exchange one of two cuz if I could I would definetely do it .

I like to take 3 powers for the tervigons so you have a nice chance of Endurance, Iron Arm and to a lesser extent enfeeble or Warp Speed. I like Iron Arm the best so they can't be instant gibbed. I know they can only use one power per turn but more rolls means more likely to get the powers you want.

I personally like Crushing claws on one of my tervigans as they are hella usefull on big vehicles and high toughness monstrous creatures - remember when you smash you get the D3 rolls on top of the normal attacks - THAT IS REALLY GOOD... So I would keep it if I were you on one of them - I know it is expensive but really good.

I like hive guard and doom are almost auto-take, Zoanthropes are always hit or miss I usually keep their powers for the nice lince shot for vehicles, but up to you.
Put doom in pod for sure - which you may have
I like the Swarmlord - it is up to you you could run 2 flyrants, but The Swarmlord is sooo good , just make sure to guard him so he gets to where he needs. I would try to run 3 guards and 1-3 whips as that decreased I of some hi Init creatures - slaanesh, Daemonprinces, thirsters, Khorne heralds, Eldar, Dark Eldar, though most of the time swarmy is going first....

Armies
Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Eldar Corsairs, Orks, Tyranids, Genestealer Cult, Chaos, Choas Space Marines, Tau, Sisters of Battle, Inquisition, Necrons, Space Marines, Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Imperial Knights, Dark Angels, Imperial Guard, Ad Mech, Knights, Skaven, Sylvaneth

Tervigons can only be instakilled in cc and by a s10 hit when they have enfeeble stacked on it. It's rare to have your Tervigon instantly killed, your opponent is going to have to burn all 6 of those wounds.

You have to take the same weapons on all the Tyrant Guard.. all nids are like that.

I think this would be the ultimate in this list

took 2 teams of Hive Guards ( took out Zoans, took the extra 10 pts for 1 more devilgaunt)
took out 1 termagaunt to give Lash Whip on Tyrant Guard

345 1x Swarmlord - 1x Tyrant Guard / Lash Whip
285 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / OA / 2x TL Devourer BLW

185 1x Tervigon / TS / Feel no Pain power
185 1x Tervigon / TS / Feel no Pain power
50 10x Termagaunts
200 16 Termagaunts / Devourer - Mycetic spore

130 1x Doom of Malantai - Mycetic Spore
150 3x Hive guard
150 3x Hive guard

160 20x Guargoyles / TS / AG
160 20x Guargoyles / TS / AG

total 2000pts

seems solid enough
