So I bought the D-Day compilation and started working out a 2nd Armored Recon Company. I came up with 2 lists

1st

2x M8s HQ
1 Armored Recon Patrol
1 Armored Recon Patrol
5 M5A1 Stuarts
5 M5A1 Stuarts
4 M10s
Full ARP
4 M2A1 105
2 M8 Scotts (split up into Armored Recon Patrols)
3 M7 priests
Limited p-38
1750

2nd list

2x M8s HQ
1 Armored Recon Patrol
1 Armored Recon Patrol
5 M5A1 Stuarts
5 M5A1 Stuarts
4 M10s
Full ARP
4 M2A1 105
4 M4a1 Shermans
Limited p-38
1775

The first list I can at .50 cals to the ARP to get to 1780. I was wondering if I could get some feedback and insight on the two lists. Thanks for any help and advice

I like the second list more than the first. I think the Shermans are needed to be something a little harder than the Stuarts and Cav recon.

Otherwise you cover all the bases of good infantry, recon, smoke and lots of high FP shots.

I'm working on a similar list using Devils Charge, so I'd be interested to hear who you get one.

Yeah, so EasyArmy gets updated with the Overlord book. Went to build my lists in it, and boy was my math off. The two lists posted earlier are well over 1750/1780 range. Do I drop one platoon of Stuarts and decrease the M2A1 105s to 2 guns to fit shermans into the list:

HQ M8s
armored Recon Patrol
Armored Recon Patrol
5 M5 Stuarts
4 M10 TDs
Full ARP
4 M4A1 Shermans
2 M2A1 105mm
Limited P-38

Or 2 full Stuart platoons with a full M2A1 field battery:

HQ M8s
Armored Recon Patrol
Armored Recon Patrol
5 M5 Stuarts
5 M5 Stuarts
4 M10 TDs
Full ARP
4 M2A1 105mm
Limited p-38

I prefer the second list.

It;s fast moving with the recon and the Stuarts, you have the M10's to deal most tanks and the ARP and the 105mm's to take out infantry.

The only problem I see with the list is taking on a heavy tank force, something like Soviet ISU lists or Guard Heavy tanks.

But otherwise good list.

That thought crossed my mind when building the lists as well. I was thinking if I ever faced some heavy tanks, I'd try to flank with the TDs to get the side armor shots. Also force them to spread out due to air attacks. The P-38's bombs are AT 5 against the top armor, in a heavy tank's case top armor 2, is still a 50/50 shot of at least bailing it.

I think it is what it is when faced with Heavy tanks and you just have to go for it.

I have also been looking at a similar list from Devils Charge.

2nd Cav (Confident Veteran)

HQ 2 M8
Cavalry Recon Platoon
Cavalry Recon Platoon
5 Stuarts
5 Stuarts
4 M10 (Trained)
4 Towed TD's + 4 Bazookas (trained)
2nd ID platoon with 4 Bazookas
4 105mm artillery
AOP

1745pts

Not sure it would be a great list but I love the idea of zooming around all over the place.

True. If they take them, there won't be that many and you can smoke em. On the other hand if they take a lot of heavies they might not have a lot of support. But as you said, just have to go for it. Your list looks good. The idea of being able to move quickly is very apppealing.
