Hey folks

I have been out of warhammer 40k for a number of years now. When i last played 5th edition had just come out, the brushes were blue, dark eldar were crap and the paints were completely different. But now after many months and many many history essays and assignments I am now ready to get back into the flow of bringing death to the fields of the future via the mighty tracks and hobnailed soles of the imperial guard. *deep breaths*

My passion is, and always has been, the napoleonic wars (and the hundred days for those buffs among you) so naturally i want to bring this into my army. This means very few tanks and mostly tallarn raiders/horsemen and guardsmen. Over my time away from the hobby I was saddened to see prices had skyrocketed to the extent I really want to find alternative models while not fully fleecing GW of their precious pennies...so i found these beauties http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_62&products_id=1655
18 quid for 40 guardsmen, thats more like it, however i would be wrong to just use these as they are, they are however very beautiful and i may get some for solely vanilla painting, but i digress.

I was hoping to know if these great models were interchangable with the current imperial guardsmen and the Dakka communities oppinions om 3rd party kits being used in either complete replacement or suppelementary roles in tandem with GWS pricey kits.

Cheers people
Steve

As a fellow gamer, I have no problems with cool looking stand-ins.
Those figs are SWEET!!
And they would make for a really cool alternative I.G. force.
Alot of the guys over here in the states are just fine with stand-ins as well.
Good luck with the army!

If your playing in a GW store probably not

else where who cares so long as they are painted based and have the correct guns.

the guns should be relatively easy to replace with something from say Victoria miniatures.

to keep them in line with the style, you should keep them shoulder to shoulder and completely forget about templates and blasts

Do it.

that is all I can say - a few lasguns and some other mods would make that one of the more epic IG armies out there.

Yeah those are great models, but scaled abit more realistically. A guardsmans lasgun is gonna look like horse artillery in their hands
I do love the idea of a napoleonic style IG regiment though. Think hussar rough riders!

Like these?

A mate's IG army taken at a tournament last year.

And his Valkyrie.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
