Hi all,
Been playing for a while and I'm about to get my hands on a good number of Nids. I've never played them before and I last played against them in 4th. I'm trying to write a TAC list, for fun, however I'm not too sure what's good, also I'm a little bit limited by models. I mostly play against Tau and Eldar (jetbikes), with a very limited number of flyers.

This is actually a really good set of models to be starting with. What you have here is the corps of the cookie-cutter TAC for bugs, more or less. Couple tweaks. You're actually 10 under, so here's what you do.
HQ
Hive Tyrant = 285 Points
- Wings, 2 sets of TL Brainleech Devourers, Hive Commander
Hive Tyrant = 260 Points

Tervigon: Catalyst = 175

Termagants = 100

Trygon = 200 Points

Total: 2000
So, You need 2 sets of devourers on the Flyrants. In combat you're already S6 AP2 with 5 attacks on the charge or while smashing, S10 with 3 attacks. Close combat weapons are meh; TL BL Devs are amazing and are you're only anti flier so are essential. Also, I added Hive Commander. You can outflank a troops choice (Tervigon!) if the situation warrants and your Trygons will be coming in on a 2+.
Your elites look good. Hive guard don't need LOS, remember that! They're your dedicated anti-tank. You don't really need the Zoey's synapse in this list but it can't hurt. Warp Lance is superfluous because of your Hive Guard but it's still good insurance and Warp Blast will be good vs. 3+'s.
I added Catalyst to your Tervigons. This is a must. A lot of people insist on Adrenal Glands and Toxin Sacs too. Depends on how you use them. If you're going to be agressive, these are a must. So you can always shave off a few gants if necessary, after all, you'll be pooping out more. Because of this, I also shaved off the third gant squad; unless you get constipated T1, you'll get them for free.
The Trygons are fine naked. Against other MC's you may miss Toxin Sacs, but I like them cheap. Have fun! This is a great start.

I drop one of your Zoanthrope broods for the DOOM! in a pod, because it's such a fantastic unit, among the best in the codex. That saves you 90 points, and you can do a lot with 90 points with Nids. I'd also recommend both TS and AG on your Tervigons, you get the points back on them on spawned termagants very easily.

I would agree with the above but you said you were limited on models. If you have a pod, by all means this is correct.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments. I'm still working my way around what does what.
I remember reading the Impaler Cannon rules, full of win.
I was thinking to DS to trygons.
I'm glad I'm not far from what is good.
I didn't want to play the doom because I'm just not a fan, it's a bit too chessy for me. If I was playing competitively it would be there.
I was a bit dubious on how well the Tervigons spawn would work which is why I had 60 Gants.
Thanks

Oh they work. They work realllll good. Will you have a game once in a while where you get constipated on T1 with one or even both? Sure. But for everyone of these games you'll also have a game where you spawn 20+ a turn (combined) through 3-4 turns. They're the best unit in the codex bar none.

I don't know if I agree with Adrenal Glands on the Tervigons anymore. Tournament fields are now full of T3, so Poison is good enough there and you can save the points. +1S on a charge will come into play all of once a game anymore, and the Tervigon can smash if he really needs to hit something hard.
Also, a Tervigon is likely considered more "cheesy" than the Doom. The Doom can have completely useless games where he drops in, does nothing, then gets shot and dies. Tervigons spawn objective holders/takers, can claim objectives themselves, are resilient, can fight decently enough, boost the army around them, and soak up a ton of firepower. For the points, they are one of the best units in the game, pound-for-pound. Not that the Doom can't be really effective too, it's just he's a really big hit, or a really big miss. The Tervigon always gets to spawn at least once.
Strong list otherwise!
