So an interesting deal was brought up today at my local game store. In the heading under area terrain it states models in area terrain gain the benefit of cover ignoring the 25% obscured rule. I had someone with a Tervigon wander an area we considered area terrain and declare a cover save. I found in the rulebook under cover where it says that models have to be 25% obscured, but it clearly states in the area terrain rules that it ignores that. Is there anywhere in the 6th ed rulebook that states MC's and vehicles can't gain a cover save for being in Area terrain? If not my tyranids and Land Raiders are going to be cruising through those forests!

It states this for vehicles in the "vehicles and cover" rules.
Monsters have no such rule and use the normal rules for area terrain.

Aww, no hiding in the trees for my land raiders. Oh well the Tervigons and mawlocs that happen upon forests will be pleased. Not to mention the flyrants that don't have to jink for that 5+ cover save while flying

While the changes in 6th to cover aren't so great for our infantry, they're fantastic our Monstrous Creatures.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.
"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!" |

FMC do not evade, they get jink save just by moving so they always have that 5+ cover as long as they move (while flying)

That's false, while they don't evade they only get jink if they "dive" which is effectively the same ( Pg.49).

I wish that was true, but it's not.
