Subject: Massed Piranhas viable?

Had some sort of crazy idea floating around of doing some sort of masses piranhas for Tau like a squad of 5 with meltas and or burst cannons getting guide from elder farseer on bike and then having all the drones link up with a drone controller commander. So much dakka and seems on paper to be a decent choice use of points.
Is it overkill? Is it worth using? It's really fast, around 400 points but could it be worth it compared to other choices for Tau?

Im not sure if its that viable but ive wanted to pull it off just to throw one hell of a curveball at my opponents. Theyre AV11/10/10 if i remember right so they explode easy, but theyre fast skimmers. Turn one zoom them across the board for a 3+ cover save with D-pods (avoiding any sight of course, remember theyre fast so you can move 12" and still fire 2 guns normally...or was it 3?) and 10 drones in 5 squads would really annoy the piss outta assaulty armies.

The drones dismount as a squad so the 10 drones would be one big squad if dismounted in the same turn.
Grot Kan walls are also AV11/10 walls and they still are fun to play with just cause it's so cheap you don't really care if they die lol.

I've actually been considering a list like this myself. With either guide/prescience or markerlight support, a squad of 5 Piranhas with burst cannons for only 200 points puts out a huge volume of firepower at 18" (20 S5 burst cannon + 20 S5 pulse carbine). With front armor AV11 you're immune to most small-arms fire, and you also have a permanent 5+ jink save. Being able to detach the drones for late game objective shenanigans is just icing on the cake.
Additionally, the large size of the unit makes it an ideal speed bump for assault units. Better still, there's no chance of a unit getting locked in combat with your Piranhas on the enemy turn.

If you do take 5, only give like 2 of them D-pods and keep those closest to the guns. That way it's like they all have D-pods until those 2 die and you save about 45 points (15 points a pop right?)
