Hi guys,

I'm pretty much still a novice at painting miniatures (so far, I've got 2 Space Marines under my belt), Which is why I decided to throw some pics of 3 Chaos Space Marines that I started working on, hoping to get some comments, suggestions, critique.

this one I finished last week...

I still need to base them and they'll be good to go.
Thanks for reading and any comments would be greatly appreciated

Upload your images to the dakka gallery, it makes it a lot easier to show them in the forums.

EDIT

Nice work on the pink, it looks very clean and stands out.

Thanks. I tried to use what I learned and build up thin layers of paint, rather than rushing and trying to get it all in one coat

The antlers is ok, and looks quite good. But I can't help to feel that you "rushed" the colours on the end, since it goes from half dark half bright to very bright very quickly in the top third.

The metal and pink is well painted, so keep up the good work there! And I can't really see if you done anything with the black. And the eyes seems a bit thick in the colours... Can you post a close up on those?

The positioning of the bolster seems a bit of, but it might be the pic.

Since they're chaos you might want to give them some wear and tear? Now they're very clean and tidy.

Mostly, well done! Still some room for improvements, but it is a good start!

Thanks for taking the time to share your observations. I really appreciate that.

In regards to the antlers or horns, I might have rushed a little. I was thinking about going back and mixing the same bone color I used on the top with some glaze medium to give it some opacity and fix that.

The black is just primer painted over with a very very dark grey. The eyes I can try and take a better pic tomorrow with natural light. its too dark now and I don't have a good lamp for taking pics

Might be the pic. These are 3 snap and fit marines so I can't adjust the positioning

I'm pretty happy with it. Looking at some of the work done by first time painters, i think its going well. Aim to keep practicing and practicing and practicing

It's very good for a "beginner", if you don't mind me using that expression!
Looking back at my first mini and comparing to yours, I'm ashamed :-P

Keep up the good work! Can't wait until I see some "real" marines!

That pink is very vibrant and pops out beautifully!

I would suggest adding a third higlight to the black and maybe wash the boltgun again, other than that you're good to go.

Thanks. Good idea with the Boltgun. It does seem "lighter" than the other one. I might have watered down the Strong Tone too much (i.e. too much water on the brush)...

Regarding the smurf. He looks nice, although the highlights seems to be just a little bit to thick.

But, he's way more gorgeous than any ultramarine I can paint!

That was the very mini I ever painted. I think all in all he came out pretty good - the highlights are too thick, but the second one came out way better. With practice, I can see that my "edging" is getting better so the 3rd smurf will be awesome
