Sorry if in the wrong forum however

If I take a mob of 30 ork boyz, and upgrade one to a nob, then can I still exchange 3 boys to have big gunz? Because it says in the rules that with every 10 boys, you can take a big gun. Would a nob count towards this?

It's every ten orks, not boyz. You could even have the nob carry one of the big guns.

I would expect Nobz taking big shootas and so on to be rectified in the new coex (since it's basically a wording issue as of now) but yeah, one per 10 Orks in the unit.

And when playing, if you go to reference the STR and AP of the weapon, you will want to make sure to look up the profile for Big Shoota. the Big Gunz weapon profiles will vary quite from the Big Shoota.

The nob being able to take one of the unit's big guns is a deliberate design choice. It was possible in the previous ork codex as well, although through a slightly different process... The unit had access to one fewer upgrade, but the nob could take one through the armoury.

Ok I think I undertand what you are asking, 30 Orkboyz, 1 upgraded to Nob is still 30 ork Boyz so yes 3 of them can be upgraded with either a Big Shoota or a Rokkit Launcha. There's nothing saying you can't give the Nob the Big Shoota or Rokkit Launcha. I play it that the Nob can't and if the nob takes a Big Choppa or PK, he is firing a Slugga, it doesn't matter if the entire unit has switched to Shootas. If he doesn't upgrade his melee weapon then he would have the shoota if the unit is using shootas.

But to answer your question it's a Yes, Nob counts towards the number in the unit.

No, 30 boyz with one upgraded to a nob is 29 boyz and 1 nob. However, it is still 30 Orkz (which is what is required). Also, since it just says one Ork may upgrade, the Nob (who is an an Ork) is allowed to take. I thought this was in the FAQ, but it's not.

If the Nob takes the big choppa/pk then he cannot get a shoota (this is covered in the FAQ).

But I guess you can give the Nob a Big Shoota or Rokkit Launcha and the Nob can still take big choppa/pk. that's interesting. I have never thought to do that.

since it's per 10 "orks" not boys the nob counts as a ork so you can.

While it might not be the best argument, GW does sell a nob with big shoota and PK - even though the "big shoota" looks like a kombi-shoota and the model isn't great at all.
