I had trouble playing my ravenwing with this low model count. Especially when trying to hold more than 2 objs. How are you fairing?

Trying to get some Feedback before I start playing .... I usual play deathwing so low model count is not anything new

You sure a second command squad would be better than a 6 man Black Knights unit ?

Yes; cheaper and allows you to auto hit and run. No brainer.

After looking through, and seeing the FAQ where you can add more knights to the command squad, heres two variants I came up with.

Second .... has the basic list as the first minus the second command squad due to the libby behind cut, in the place of the libby theres a dark shroud for cover saves (keeping close to the commands squad or black knights with skilled rider)

Thoughts?

I'd say drop the assault cannon on the darkshroud. I try to move flat out with the darkshroud so it gets a 2+ cover save, otherwise it only gets 3+ cover save. And the assault cannon doesn't do very much. Put a PFG on the librarian with the leftover points.

Since you're rolling with the SoD you need your guys to use their bolters. So I'd pull out the melta and attack bike from the 6 man bike squads and try to take a 3 man squad with 2 meltaguns and an attack bike with a MM. Outflank it and go armor hunting.

1500 points is tough for Ravenwing. Here is kinda what I'd run (I do not have the codex infront of me at the moment).

I don't use the darkshroud cause most people have things that ignore cover saves and drop the darkshround immediately. I outflank with the melta squads and hit up armor and grab objectives. It has worked out pretty well for me. I keep the 6 man bike squads by the standard. The problem is you really need another RCS or BKS so Sam and the libby can run with them and kill important stuff. Wish I could point it all out right now.

There are two lists up above, one has a librarian and the other has a dark shroud.

The List with the Librarian does not have any spare points, The List with the Dark Shroud ... I just couldn't find anything filler point wise to add other than the assault cannon.

Ya you lose a few bolter shots not taking special weapons in squads but .... if the SOD is out of range or destroyed the unit is pretty pitiful - I think not taking special weapons in squads would be waste.

I'm not sure how I feel about dark shrouds, some people have said they are amazing on the table ... others are more 'meh' - 2+ cover saves for skilled riders would be really nice.

Both Lists will function in almost the same way - I guess it really comes down to List 1 : Libby + Hit & Run Banner + 2 flamers, 4 meltas or List 2 : Dark Shroud, 6 meltas

I personally like the darkshroud, however a lot of my meta uses ignore cover. Therefore I always run a pfg libby with them to stop those nasty drakes. A few special weapons in the attack squads aren't bad as again, you might lose the banner or be out of range. Either way its better NOT to put all your eggs in one basket IMO
