A situation came up in my last game where a unit of dscythegaurd targeted a large unit with a couple independent characters. The attack resulted in 18 wounds, 6 of them being Instant Death wounds. How does one determine which models the ID wounds are applied to? The BRB just says to create two separate wound pools when some of the wounds have special rules. When it comes to allocation it says to allocate to the closest model like usual but I can't find anything to tell me who gets the 'special' wounds. Random? That seems pretty tedious.

Am I missing something?

Two wound groupings within the pool, as you split up according to S, AP and special rules. So you can ask them to resolve all normal wounds first, or all ID wounds first.

Since wounds are allocated to the closest model in the target squad, what if the two multi wound characters are in the back? Does the controlling player get to allocate the non ID wounds first, saving the ID wounds for the multi wound models in the back? Is that legit within the rules?

The player controlling the shooting chooses which wounds the opponent resolves first. Choose the best order for you, not for him, of course.

Resolve normal wounds first, ID wounds second. Hence the two wound groupings.

no idea

P15, mixed wounds gives the shooter the choice of which wound pool is resolved in what order.

You wart-ridden imbeciles!
