First ever attempt at Non Metallic Metal and Sky Earth Non Metallic Metal. Thought the gold effect came out well, however not happy with the shield. Need more free hand practice.

Not bad for a first attempt!

I am no super expert but I did paint some 50 chaos models with NMM weapons and details. From my experience I would advice you to be a bit bolder with the contrast on the gold. Always really pure white on edges facing your imaginary light source (usually up) and make the dark parts even darker.

As for the SENMM i feel black for earth is a difficult choice. A warm color like some shade of brown is easier for the eye/brain to understand.

For me it took at least 10 models before I was even getting the idea, so keep trying!

You need contrast for anytime you are going to paint metals be it true metallics or non. Your lacking any real contrast and your skipping to much from one level to the other. You want a smooth transition no matter what your painting. I would suggest getting the Figone videos off of C'MON because even though he is arrogant and rather rude he still is an amazing painter. Pic those up as learning wet blending will help you out a lot for these techniques.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
