Subject: canoptek spyders and independent characters

Just had a random thought on the way to work and was wondering if it would be a viable tactic. I use scarabs with acouple spyders infront as i advance and was thinking of adding a lord with weave to give them abit more staying power. Because of majority toughness on wound rolls wouldnt that lord count as being toughness 6 an a 2+ save??
Now im not sure on rules on this so may have missed something. Also if you could add a character what do you think would be a gd choice??

As long as you can take more than Spyder in the unit you can add an IC.

I would think Vargard Obyron, he can teleport those Spyders to the other side of the map and he'll be near unkillable with T6 2+ and the ability to teleport away at any time.

I thought about this recently myself, but haven't tried it yet. Keep in mind that royal court members may only be split off to join Warriors, Immortals, Lychguard or Deathmarks. So it will just be the spyder and character.

An Overlord with MSS, Warscythe, and Sempiternal weave could do great in a Spyder unit.

Obyron with three spyders is a tested and letal unit. Just dont throw the mindlessly in the shooting lane of everything.... but once teleported and on the charge they kick ass
