I believe they're classic games workshop orks of some sort, but I'm not entirely sure...

They're definitely Orks, and judging by the autopistols a few of them have, I'd say they're from 2nd edition or Gorkamorka. You could look up when exactly they're from on solegends: http://www.solegends.com/citadel/

Yup, looks like Gorkamorka. You can see a couple of the boyz here:

The grot, however, is 2nd ed standard 40k:
http://www.solegends.com/citcat1998/1998P377-02.htm

And as mentioned, the bike front is from an OOOOLD warbike - maybe even 1st ed, 2nd at the latest.

Also, you can't fool us. I see a dwarf in there too.

Yup, I agree. Middle Ork with the most paint is 2nd edition, rest are Gorkamorka. Grot is 2nd edition. Not sure what the laying down Ork in the back is.

Thanks very much everyone, that is most helpful. I have a couple more challenges. I think the first is a vampire count of some sort. The next lot I have no idea, but I'm presuming they're not games workshop...

Oh, and here are some tau air caste pilots, not because I don't know what they are, but because they're cool and I'd not seen these before now. I think they're from forgeworld maybe?

The middle four are indeed not from GW, but Ion Age. They're still on sale, by the way.

The top one is Vampire Counts Necrarch. The bottom ones are Forge World Tau Air Caste ground crew.
