Space Cowboy Cruising Around Olympus Mons

Hey guys so this is a list I made to take on mostly Space marines and chaos space marines.

I have tried to give each unit a purpose so that I can direct my cadre properly.

Any advice or tips would be awesome thanks!

 

HQ:

Commander with air bursting frag projector, missile pod, plasma rifle, 2 marker drones, drone controller

Total: 162

Will use his plasma rifle and frag projector for MEQ because of large blast

 

Troops:

8 firewarriors

8 firewarriors

7 firewarriors

Total: 207

These guys will sit and camp objectives while picking off low armor infantry

 

Elites

xv8 team crisis suits X 3

with plasma, fusion blaster, target lock, 2 marker drones

Total  = 243

This team will be used to go after MEQ

 

xv8 team crisis suits X 3

with missile launcher, missile launcher, target lock, marker drones

Total = 243

This team will be used for long distance range

 

xv8 team – single suit

with burst cannon, burst cannon, flamer, shas'vre, iridium battle suit , 2 marker drones

Total: 106

This is my get in your face and cause some havoc unit, I will deep strike him in close to the enemy and get off 8 strength 5 shots with the burst cannons and the iridium suit will give him a 2+ armor save

 

Fast Attack

Piranha

Total:  40 Points

This is a distraction unit for cheap points that might cause some damage to light infantry

I like the list but I'd drop all the marker drones of the crisis suit teams and use the extra points to get some pathfinders. They are a much more effective marker light unit and allow you to mark units for the suits.
Also drop one of the weapons of your commander (since he can only fire two a turn) and give him iridium armour to keep him alive.

Besides from above poster

the list is meh.

there is no real focus and have not fully dealt with all threats concerning chaos and SM,

Commander suit should have the iridium pretty much all the time as it should prevent many slay the warlords. the APF is nice against cultists and camo scouts but will put your HQ in the enemies range most of the time.

Helios suits i still like as it gives options for the most part

death rain suits are completely out shined now by missile broadsides.

Piranhas i havnt really tried so no comment.

you are lacking in ways of dealing with hell drakes from Chaos which will ruin your day every day as well as space marine drop pod armies with your lack of interceptor.

Ya I was thinking of dropping the Airbursting Frag Projector because I agree that it would bring me in really close.
I was thinking of Iridium armour for him but with 4 wounds and trying to stay behind some cover or friendly units I don't think it will be a large problem.

I agree with broadsides instead of the dual missile pod suits but I don't have any broadsides at the moment but will be a good idea.

I agree with the helldrake problem but the only chaos player I play doesn't have one so shouldn't be a problem for now but I was thinking of getting a sunshark bomber because it would help me avoid some fire as I would be the only flyer and could drop some blast bombs.

How good are pathfinders? I have heard mixed things about them?

The thing about iridium armor is that it laughs at st 8 krak missiles (st 8 in general when your leader gets instagibed)

the flyer is so so and generally and some people will try to cheese you saying it doesnt have an initial bomb or whatever.

I think a single skyray should hold you for the most part in lower point games for AA

Pathfinders are ok though when i scout them up they usually get owned quickly. so be mindful of 36" positioning.

Well should I get a hammerhead then be able to use the ion cannon overcharged for the large blast over the enemy tac units because of ap 3.

Also I was looking at the pathfinder but I feel that what I would use them for would be using the ion rifles or rail rifles rather than marker lights.

I think a drone squad of marker drones riding close to commander would work better imo

Ion heads have its uses and works well with an over abundance of marker hits to reduce scatter and the works.

Special weapon pathfinders have there uses but need points to shine relatively for there points, they dont get any sort of shrouding so is hard keep em in range and alive without outflanking.

Iv done super marker commander with a full marker drone sqaud. it works decently and generates a gak load of tokens.
