Hey all looking for something a little exotic here, wondering if canoptek spyders can create additional charnel scarabs from IA 12.

Thanks

Do Canoptek Spyders have permission to create Charnel Scarabs?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

No, I figured by RAW they could not. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

There are only a few units in the IA12 Necron army list that are specified as being allowed to be taken in a standard Necron force.

All others would only be allowed when being taken as part of the IA12 Necron force.

I was planning to just use the Dark Harvest list exclusively.

AFAIK there is no list. You have to look at each entry. It will say something along the lines of "General Bob is a HQ choice for a Codex: America army." or "an M1A2 Abrams tank may also be chosen as part of a standard American army. When chosen as part of Codex: America, it is a Heavy Support choice and is treated as though it was chosen from that codex.".

But of course, as I was typing you edited your post, making mine seem like random nonsense.

Appears that no Spyders cannot make Charnel scarabs. Maynarkh is it's own group though. You may have them be a primary by choosing a Maynarkh HQ and supplement them with standard Necrons or vice versa. pg 102

Edit: You are also limited in what you can choose for the Maynarkh, most notably they cannot take C'tan. There are also additional caveats for Maynarkh, like not taking Immortals as the required two troop choices.
