I got tired of playing chaos and have acquired a SW army. I would like your comments and thoughts on my 1500 list please.
Rune Priest - chooser, jaws, hurricane, axe, term armour, talisman, and necklace 145
2x GH Pack - 10 man w/ 2 Plas Gun, 1x PF, mark, standard, in drop pod - 245 each
1x GH Pack - 10 man w/ 2 Melta, 1x PF, mark, standard, in drop pod - 240
WG Pack - 5 man w/ 1x assault cannon, 2x chain fist, 3x pf in a drop pod - 290
2x Pred auto, heavy bolt - 85 each
1x Pred las all around - 165
Now I know I should have LF as my heavy choice but sadly do not got any atm or vindicators :(.
Anyways any comments/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I would take LL over Hurricane personally (unlimited range D6 STR 7 shots...). That isn't to say Hurricane is a bad power.
I would drop the PF from the GH squads - make them 9 strong, and take WG with Combi-Melta + PF and split them amongst your troops. The fist is cheaper, you get an 'extra' special weapon attack, and he is LD 9 which can make a massive difference (Space Wolves have a habit of 'tactically retreating' otherwise).
You can then hopefully get another 5 man squad to go with a WG in the drop pod instead.
The Preds aren't a bad choice. Longfangs are definitely the go to unit in the heavy support section - but Preds can be good. Don't spend 165 on one though, just take the single TL lascannon and be done with it (unless you can't find somewhere else to spend the points).
I'm running a 2000pt list at the moment with 2 LF squads, a TL Las Pred, a vindicator, a whirlwind, and 2 TL Las dreads (still with 65 bodies and 5 WG terminators).
I think you've got the right idea, just maybe not the right models yet .

Back in the day, we were epic Space Vikings with horns, and beer, and stupid mockney accents, and we didn't have any truck with this flying around like a pansy shizzle. We certainly didn't surround ourselves with mangy animals.
Now we're basically the Bestiality Chapter.
We also now ride chariots and employ daemonic dreadnoughts...also, we fly and teleport with abandon. With wolves. |

Here's my tuppence worth:
You have 4 pods which is not ideal, try and stick to odd numbers, if you have 3, 2 drop first turn and you only have one in reserve.
I cant really work out where your Rune Priest is going. I'm assuming that your wolf guard are in terminator armour? If so you do realise that Space Wolf pods can only carry 10 men or 5 termies?
I would agree with previous poster on powerfists for grey hunters. Only having 1 attack really makes it not worth it. rather give them power axes so they have the extra attack. They are still S5 AP2 so good in combat, but that extra attack is much better than the S8.
On your Rune Priest, I'm not sure why you have gone for the chooser? Not much infiltrates, so the only really good use for it is the +1BS which is great in combo with a ADL or Living Lightening, but you dont have any shooting attacks, so not really sure why you would waste 10 points on the chooser?
Otherwise your list is pretty good, DP SW is the way forward with some heavy armour to back them up. I personally like land raiders backing up my pods, heavily armoured assault transports are amazing.

Having an odd number of pods is much better.
I know you don't have any longfangs, but I can't really offer a good replacement becasue... there isn't one :(, I would seriously consider investing in them.
Predators are... meh. They're okay but you can get 2 las 3 missile launcher, who can then benefit from the rune priest if you take divination powers, give him a squad to sit in, AND split fire for the price of that 3 las predator.
Your Rune Priest is left in the cold, our drop pods only have 10 man capacity. Also your rune priest can't actually have an axe as per the unusual force weapon rules in the BRB if your force weapon has special close combat rules(wounding demons on a 2+) then it's a force sword (ap3 with str user at initiave. I found this out late as I modeled mine with an axe and found out he can't use it :( ) He also probably doesn't want the necklace as if he is sitting with longfangs(which is the only real option he has unless you drop some GH or a wolf guard out of a pod) he doesn't want to be in CQC anyway. The talisman is kinda redundant as you only get one opportunity to negate an enemy psychic power (Per the SW FAQ) so your runic weapon is the best you have.
PF is kinda useless in a GH pack, expensive and specialist weapon so only one measly attack for a bunch of points that against most enemies hits 50% of the time.

twinner wrote:Rune Priest - chooser, jaws, hurricane, axe, term armour, talisman, and necklace 145 Ew. Things:
1. Its just a Runic Weapon, not a [Runic] Axe. Its an Unusual Force Weapon so its AP 3 and strikes at wielder's Strength/Initiative.
2. Terminator Armor is the only way to get an Invulnerable Save on a Rune Priest, but it limits you when you put him with other units. I'd take Runic Armor or leave him with a 3+.
3. Talisman is redundant, your Runic Weapon is already the best anti-psyker ability in the game. If you have 5 points left over, take Meltabombs. The versatility is more worthwhile IMO.
4 Wolf Tooth Necklace is a bad idea on any HQ. Just a waste of points. Just look at your stat line: WS 5 S 4 T 4 I 4 W 2 A 2 Sv 3+ or 2+, maybe a 5++ in there. Only enemy models that are WS 5 or higher will make the Necklace mean anything, and they will all be able to tear you apart because they have more attacks, usually at higher Initiative, and usually AP: 3 or better.

Make the Power Fist a Power Weapon or drop it all together. It is a massive waste of points on a model that has only one attack. A Power Axe will give you increased Strength and low AP and will perform better against more enemy options than the Fist.
twinner wrote:WG Pack - 5 man w/ 1x assault cannon, 2x chain fist, 3x pf in a drop pod - 290
It is a shame these are likely already built. One of the great boons about Wolf Guard Terminators is the new Power Weapons rule. Being able to just have several Power Axes for "free" is more useful than paying to take Power Fists and Chain Fists usually. Consider at least converting the Power Fists to Wolf Claws. A single Wolf Claw at Initiative 4 will do you more good than a single Power Fist when the unit also has Chain Fists. You are also missing out by not taking Combi-Weapons of any kind.
I suggest that Wolf Guard Terminators are a bit spendy, and I wouldn't recommend them below 1750 unless taking Logan.
twinner wrote:2x Pred auto, heavy bolt - 85 each

Predators with an Autocannon and Lascannon Sponsons are more cost effective. Would cost 25 points more to replace all 3 Predators with that setup, but you can easily get those points by cutting out a lot of the fat I mentioned previously. Then you'll have 6 Lascannons running around for you. Still a worry since you don't have many other vehicles, but since they are AV 13 they should be okay with careful positioning.
That's all that jumps out at me. Hope it helps!

I've run them as what they are on the model. staff = stave, sword = sword, axe = axe
Has this been FAQ'ed?
It says that the runic weapon is a force weapon, not an unusual force weapon?
What are other peoples views on this?

It is a Runic Weapon, which is a kind of Force Weapon. Force Weapons come in different varieties, as do Runic Weapons. So if he has an Axe, it is Force Axe with the additional benefits a runic weapon brings. If it is a Sword (using Ragnar as an RP for example) it is a Force Sword.
Follows the same rules in 6th for power weapons - e.g. what is on the model is what you get.
