Hi dakka,
A few of questions for you.

1. Is it worthwhile basing the finecast Thunderfire Cannon, or just varnishing the hell out of it?

2. Also I'm going to start painting my stormtalons in a couple of weeks but I've neglected the bases as I'm unsure how to proceed.
How should I attach the flight stand to the base? I'm planning on using cork tiles to match the rest of my bases but I can't decide how to go from here.
Should I glue straight on using plastic cement and decorate around the stand?
Utilize pinning?
Magnetize for easy transport?

Regards

Hey

1. I haven't based either of my Thunderfire Cannons (one fincast, one metal) and they're doing fine. If you are going to do so - I would suggest a 60mm Dreadnought Base.

2. I glued my Stormtalon flight stand onto the base using poly cement, but I have adequate storage/hard cases. If you think storage is going to be an issue there are plenty of tutorials online which show you how to create a slotted base that the flight stand clips into - meaning you can emove it for transport.

I am currently taking commissions.

With my Thunderfire I used a base that comes with the stormtalon. I magnetized the tech marine and thunderfire to the base just for easy movement / storage. I don't think you would have any problems if you didn't base, especially if you have the finecast version.
