I would like to run an IG list including 2 Devildogs and 2 Hellhounds. What would be the best way to squadron them? Devildogs solo, Hellhounds together? Vice versa? I'm also looking for advice on hull weapons for both variants.
Please don't say take a Vendetta!

Take a Vendetta.
...ok, ok, I kid
You're best putting them into 2 squadrons of 2. Keep the same type together. The main reason for this is so that you're not wasting any firepower as the two variants should be going after very different targets (heavy armour for the Devildog, massed infantry for the Hellhound).
However, another reason - in particular, for not taking them singly - is that having one tank on its own could represent an easy kill point compared to the full squadron. This CAN work to your advantage in smaller games if you can goad your opponent into concentrating on the 1 at the cost of ignoring other things, mind.

the nice thing about having two hell hounds in a unit (hellhounds are underatted IMO they do a good job)
is that you get to lay two templates on it, before any models are removed (ie causing 2x the hits)
Id go two HH in a unit, two DD in a unit, then you still have a FA slot for a unit of 1-3 valk's

I agree that two squads of 2 would be best. Hellhounds generate more than their fair share of hate on the table, and being able to put the devil dog a little bit closer basically turns it into a 6HP hellhound.
Plus, on the other side, you're looking at a unit with 6HP and three multimeltas. And the flamer can still hurt light vehicles.

Thanks for all the feedback! I will definitely try 2 squads of 2.
Ailaros it seems like you're suggesting I take MMs for th Hellhounds. Care to elaborate on this decision?

A hellhound without a multimelta is a one-trick pony. A raging, thoroughbred stallion pony, but a one-trick pony none the less.
For pretty cheap, you can allow a hellhound a shot at dinging monstrous creatures and terminators, and to be actually GOOD against vehicles.
In other words, it gives the unit a wider threat profile, for really not very many more points.
