So I look around and see a number of flyer-related tactical advice; however, I've noticed that almost all of the advice revolves around gun-based flyers.

While I know these are the most common, has anyone had any experience using missile or bomb-based flyers? I play orks and necrons and am tempted to pick try out some of the different flyers other than my dakkajets and night/doom scythes I already have.

Missiles as a weapon type are fine, the reason you don't hear about them very much is because they aren't a very common option and the best flyers can't take them at all.

Bombs are a weak weapon because flying over a useful target to drop a bomb often means your flyer's normal guns won't have anything to shoot at (since you've just flown over and past most of your opponent's army), and all of the flyers that currently exist do more damage with their guns than with their bombs. This could change if GW ever released a pure bomber.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
