As I understand it when you take a character, Farsight for example IF you use him as your Warlord you get his pre-determined trait and nothing else.

What happens if you nominate another HQ as your warlord AND bring Farsight?

Do I get Farsights pre-determined and a roll on a warlord table?

Pretty sure the FAQ clears this up.

It's called a WARLORD trait for a reason, i.e. you only get the benefit of it it if the model is your warlord, if not then he still has it but it does nothing as he isn't your warlord.

I'm pretty sure the warlord section of the BRB clears that up.
How many warlords are you allowed?
Is the model your warlord?
Do you get warlord traits for any HQ that isn't the warlord?

These three questions answer your question. Having a fixed trait or having a random one don't matter, if the model isn't your warlord why would they get the ability to make use of a trait?
