So in 1850 list I have 3 5 man dw squads and 5 knights rolling in a land raider. Would it be better to drop them and add in another 5 dw with assault cannon to ride in the LR?

Temple Prime

Treat Knights like Deathmark squads, they can and will remove any one unit from play. Emphasis on one. Unless you're fighting Chaos where you can stay at AP3 because feth traitors (this also applies to any inner circle members with them, so Belial's power sword can now carve open Chaos termies like turkeys). Also when bunched up you get +1 toughness so feel free to laugh at puny small arms fire.

If a few specific units look like they'll be a problem, the Knights will turn them into mush the moment they touch bases.

So ask yourself, does your opponent's list have any wunderwaffe that absolutely positively have to die?

Other armies got monstrous creatures. We got the best monstrous creature killers in the game. I would say keep them and run them, see how they hold up in your meta.
