Last night I was thumbing through the Necron codex and noticed (again) that the C'Tan shards are ICs. With only a 4++ save, many consider them being overpriced and too easy to kill from VOF.

However, I was wondering about the possibility of having him join a unit of some sorts to provide an additional shield of bodies for it. Likewise, I'm wondering about it's effectiveness in a RC unit with a VeilTek in order to deep strike it across the board faster.

Anyone try this or have any thoughts around it?

They aren't IC's.

Codex says "Monstrous Creature (Character)". Wouldn't that denote them as an IC?

No, unit Sgt are characters too. It just donates that they can benefit from LOS if they are in a unit and can issue and accept challenges.

Yeah, telling people how this and that is 'garbage' and they should just throw their minis into the trash as they're not as efficient as XYZ.

A character is different from an Independent character.

Character pg 63 - BRB

Independant Character pg 39 - BRB

No. Character =/= Independent Character.

Look at the Overlord in comparison.
