In a 500 points tournament game with these restriction.

No armour value 11 or above
No named character

1 unit per FOC slot. Except for troops, they get up to 3 units.
And 1 extra unit in the FOC slot of your choice.

No mandatory 1HQ 2 troops restriction.

It will be played on a 4 x 4 board.

Question is.

Should I use a DP
- MoT
- wings
- power armour
-burning brand of skarlathrax

Or replace him

With more cultist along with dark apostle?

Basically.

My list now is

DP.

10 X cultist with 1 flamer

10 x cultist with 1 flamer

1 oblitz

1 oblitz

I would stick with dp. Maybe reserve one cultist squad to run onto board edge and claim objective in rear

Or should I stick the cultist together to make a 20 man blob.

Depends, i would say no for any situation other than you all will for sure be doing purge the alien. Even at 500 2 troops is pretty nessicary, especially with ones that could fall back so quickly.

Not just necessary, but compulsory.

The scenario will be 1-3 Emperor will, 4-6 purge the alien.

In this tournament we are negating the basic 1 HQ 2 troops FOC.

We only have 1 troop minimum requirement.

Compulsory as in "you'll lose without them", I suspect he meant.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

I fear you have too many points tied up in that Prince, which as it's only T5 (correct me if I'm wrong there) will still go down relatively easy to mass firepower if you can't get him stuck in quick enough. There are quite a few cheap, basic troops you're fairly likely to come up against (Fire Warriors, DE Warriors, Sniper Scouts, Eldar shuriken weapons) that would give that Prince pause for thought, and then you're stuck with only basic cultists and 2 other models to try and win back the game for you. Spoiler alert - cultists will not win the game back for you.

By all means take the cultists as speed bumps, but drop the Prince for a basic HQ instead (I'm thinking Sorcerer for buffing capabilities) and get more reliable boots on the ground. Perhaps some Plague Marines or Noise Marines.

Have a quick update here for you guys if you are wondering how the game went.

I had 5 games. won 2 and lost 3 of them. where 1 of them were pretty close.

Daemon prince only got into combat 2 of of 5 games. which was the 2 games that I won.

Yeah. I agree. too much points invested in 1 single model with 4 wounds.

In 500 point games I tend to take the most guns I can and stay out of close combat. Which means the cheapest HQ possible and the most troops. MSU is going to be king as that will allow you to grab the most objectives and shoot at more targets while not worrying too much if any single unit is wiped.

Try this:
Sorcerer w/the terminator and mastery level upgrade

6 10 man cultist squads. W/auto guns and 1 flamer per unit

Should be 500 even.

This will do 2 psychic powers and 60/120 auto gun shots a turn. Also you have 61 bodies on the table.
