So I love the concept of the Warlord on a Bonebreaker. Good all around init, strength, attacks and +1 wound to the Warlord for pretty cheap.

I have fantasies of running him in the middle of a 60 strong horde of Storm Vermin pushing a Screaming Bell (in a 3K list no doubt).

Question is can he be equipped well enough to take the punishment and dish it out for a reasonable price?

I have a few ideas on builds such as:

Warlord
Bonebreaker
Armor of Destiny
Weeping Blade
Shield
Potion of Strength

Or as above but with Dwarfgouger instead (armor piecing and +1 Str if I remember)

Both hit hard and can soak up the damage.

Also
Warlord
Bonebreaker
Warpstone Armor
Dawnstone
Shield
Handweapon

Doesn't hit as hard, but much cheaper and throws back lots of S4 hits (hopefully, assuming everyone doesn't take armor ignoring weapons or hits at S6 or 7)

Anyone have any really good builds they can share?

Search the forums for BossSalvage's battle reports from a little bit back. He ran a single and then double bonebreaker list for a little while.

Personally I think you can either go dirt cheap and get two lords on bonebreaker with little to no gear for added punch in a unit or go all out and try fell blade!

A more conservative option might be something like:
Warlord, bone breaker, 4+ ward, d.helm, warlock augmented, heavy armor and shield-- 258

10 str 5 attacks plus stomp, 2+/4+/ 2++ vs fire and toughness 5 wounds 4 means he can own in challenges or at least hold people up forever.

Fits with a seer on bell in 3k games with a little room for gear on the lv4.

Just outside the gates of hell

I like it too it has great potential for some nice damage output which is always a plus for skaven.
The downside is that..if I remember right...the bone breaker counts as a monstrous mount so he can be targeted in challenges and with no armour save he gets knocked out from under the warlord quite easily.
He can also be hit by spells and shooting.
Worth a shot IMO though .

Dissent is not disloyalty.
Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree it will spend its whole life thinking it is stupid.

I am pretty sure he is treated as Monstrous Cavalry but if I am wrong then I will probably not like using him as much.

I do like the idea of a warlock weapon, but they seem pretty pricey for what you get, maybe just normal old sword of might, or sword of anti-heroes, I have yet to see a main block that doesn't have at least one character in it, and if there's no characters he really doesn't need the extra str and attacks to do serious damage.

IF you're having trouble with monsterous anything, go with the Fellblade. The Fellblade Bonebreaker Warlord goes through monsterous creatures like a chainsaw through butter. S 10 and d6 wounds on four attacks is just plain mean!

But much of the effect is wasted on standard infantry and (somewhat on) cavalry.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

I love the Fellblade, but hate the idea of A) a 100 point magic item and B) giving a lord only 1 thing lol!

But that would ruin a Monster's day pretty easily.

What about just keeping him cheap and going halberd, Dhelm? I think that's 165 points for some pretty serious hitting and a good 2+ armor save, should I throw a ward on him or just keep him cheap if I go this rout?

He does indeed count as Monstrous Cavalry, so no targeting the mount out from under him. It does mean that he doesn't get a Look Out Sir! save from any unit in the skaven army book.

The loadout I've been looking into is:

Warlord
Bonebreaker
Charmed Shield (2+ to ignore the first cannon hit is almost as good as LoS! ...)
Talisman of Preservation
Skalm
Sword of Might

Now, the issue I have is that the first 3 items usually go to other characters (BSB, BSB and Grey Seer respectively). What I was looking to run instead was a BSB that lurked in the second rank of a 5 wide bus of Stormvermin, which a 40mmx40mm Bonebreaker makes possible with just Full Command on the Stormvermin.

Again, this is completely untested at the moment. Every time I eye the Bonebreaker, I usually end up going with a War-Litter instead.

Try the enchanted shield+Dragonbane gem. Comes out to the same total in points but nets you +1 to your armour save.

Problem then is I can't use a halberd w/shield (which is more useful if I am going cheapo on him).

I mentioned in my first post, but I'll say it again:

Two cheap bonebreakers are a pretty decent way to go.

You can fit 2 warlords on bonebreakers with minimal gear in a 2500 pt list and still have a grey seer with a ward save.
