So I recently picked up a the new Baneblade/Shadowsword kit from my FLGS for apocalypse and I'm having difficultly figuring out which kit to build.

A little background: I've already built a Shadowsword kit and left it in a way that it can build most of the other variants minus the Stormlord and if someone's a stickler on it the other two transport capacity ones as I didn't build them with the platform at the back. This second kit I can't decide to make it as the Baneblade variants or another Shadowsword variants? If there is a way to magnetise the treads and top plates easily (not very good with the magnestising as of yet) that could work to?

Depends on what you want. If you haven't got enough anti-tank, Shadowsword. If you want anti-infantry, Stormsword. If you have and want a decent all rounder, Baneblade. If you want a good troop transport with amazing anti-infantry (but a bit pricy), Stormlord. If you want a decent cheaper troop transport but still good anti-infantry support, Banehammer. If you want a decent troop transport but still good anti-tank support, Doomhammer. If you want a good all rounder with shorter range, Hellhammer. The banesword is really only good at being cheap and long ranged - if you're expecting night fight at all or to not be able to draw direct line of sight across most of the board, it's meh.

So yeah, it really depends what you want. If you ever get there, Steel Fury is a horrible formation - even 3 means you are at +4 on the damage table (+3 for combined, +1 for AP2) which is disgusting in itself but as it's a tank formation, you can give it preferred enemy too. That means that against tanks you're close to Str D (lower chance to pen but much better at hitting due to 10" blast) and against infantry you're almost always hitting on 2, rerolling 1's. 9 HP is a tough cookie too, almost Titan tough but significantly cheaper. If you don't do that though, Shadowsword is the best AT option by far. What sort of weaknesses do you think you will have? The variants can patch them. I'd vote for Stormlord though, it's my fav model of all of them.

I couldn't decide either. So I didn't glue the body pieces in and set it up to be both. The entire model-defining assembly in the center slides in and out of the tread housings rather easily. No magnetization necessary, the assemblies glue to themselves neatly. (the gun barrels are also magnetized, I figured I might want a hellhammer or stormsword some time.)

Every unit that can take a D-weapon should take a D-weapon, therefore Shadowsword.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Thanks I'll try and aim to do this then as it seems like its best of both worlds, thanks to everyone else as well for the suggestions.
