Subject: FrozenKommander Battles from the Frontline video batrep series
Hey guys, this thread will collect all of the FrozenKommander battle reports.
The first batrep is pIrusk vs pMorghul at 35 points:
Please feel free to leave any comments, suggestions and any rules we may have gotten wrong. This is a tremendous learning experience for me, since this is my first ever video battle report.

At around 25:15 you make a common mistake, sprays are to the centre of the base, so unless there was something past that brigand that you were aiming at that isn't visible off the camera, you probably would have tagged eSorscha with it. Nice batrep though, keep it up.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I enjoyed watching those, I like how you show the entire battle blow-by-blow rather than just showing the table at the end of each turn and describing what happened. I have just a couple of small comments. First, in some of those videos you sometimes use fancy dice that are actually kind of hard to read when watching the video. Second, why do you keep introducing Kovnik Joe as "yours truly"? That would imply that you are Kovnik Joe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valediction#Yours_truly.2C).
Actually, I was wondering, when you were shooting at Lord Carver and missed several times, was that because he was getting a bonus for being in combat? Once the Great Bear engaging him took a tough roll, would that mean that he was knocked over and therefore no longer engaging Carver? Your shots deviated onto one of the bears at least once or twice after he passed his tough roll, was that because the second Great Bear was in melee range?

I´ve watched all your battle reports and gotta say that I really look forward to the next one.
I like your voice, your camerawork is pretty good & you have a great variety in range of models you use. Your games look like fun times and it´s nice to see how the paintjob gets better & better from game to game.
Second best BattleReport Channel next to WargamerGirl.
Sorry mate, she gets the girl-bonus although I sympatize with your lose against LoE.

Noted on the diction, all of the voicework is improvised while I watch the footage, hence some of the voiceover errors you may notice.
Carver was indeed getting a bonus for being in combat, as a ranged/magic attack targeting a model in melee has a -4 penalty when rolling to hit. The Great Bears, assuming that Kolsk - one of the named models in the character unit - is still alive, naturally have Steady, meaning they're not knocked down when they pass a Tough roll. If the unit did not have steady, then you would be correct, as models that are knocked down cannot engage enemy models and have no melee range.

I guess you could say watching the paint job improve is a bonus feature . I try not to follow the limitation of painted models only because no one at my FLGS has a fully painted army, and I believe that having such a limitation doesn't really suit the spirit of the channel.
Funny you mention WarGamerGirl, as I've been aiming to have my battle reports be a hybrid of her camera work and MiniWarGaming's commentary and human aspect, and then have it work in my own way. Seems to be working quite well

3 more games from a Divide and Conquer event I went to, since I played in these they won't have the usual production quality compared to my other batreps, but hey, more games
Round 1:
Round 2:
Round 3:
Definitely a learning experience .

I cannot believe Vlad survived that last turn! Balances out the bad luck on his charge attack I guess.
In retrospect, do you feel it was a mistake to keep firing your rifle core at high-arm models, or do you still think it was worth the risk of not breaking armour?

The thinking behind firing at the Engima Foundry/Axis was that the shots wouldn't be worthwhile against the Obstructors due to the absolutely powerful recursion mechanic that the Foundry gives the faction. If I was able to take out the Foundry early on, I would be able to dedicate resources to take out the Obstructors if the flag was still there. Since it disappeared, I treated that section of the board as entirely expendable and decided to start lobbing shots at Axis. If I didn't do that, I would not have gone after the assassination attempt on Axis.

Yeah, the Enigma Foundry gains soul tokens whenever friendly models die within its CMD range. It can then spend those souls to put grunts back into a small or medium based unit (it needs to spend more souls to make a medium based model). Considering that Rifle Corp are in a losing position already to get through ARM 18 with POW 10s (Yes, even under Signs and Portents), it was better for me in the long run to try to take out the Enigma Foundry first.
