Hey guys,

I have just picked up two Ork bommer kits and have been tossing on which model to build.

Was thinking of taking 2 Dakkajets or 1 of each (Dakkajet & Burner-Bommer)

As this is my first time adding flyers to my army, I am grateful for any feedback from those who have used these flyers with success.

NOTE: I am tending to lean towards the Dakkajets..

I'd always use the Jet over Bommer.

Given the choice, jets. Bombs dont really work that well (the rules are dumb for one) and theyre expensive models while still being AV10.

I dont like any of the ork jets personally. The only time ive ever had them actually be a threat and force more than 1 unit of dakka to take them down was when i ran 3 of them and 2 warpheads so i had a constant WAAAAGH! going on. But, all that meant is the entire enemy force just shot at them and they fell outta the skies (even infantry guns can kill them effectively)

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

IIRC the Burna Bomba actually has ranged weapons other than bombs. They're mostly anti-horde (something like S5 AP4 Ignores Cover), but they do have a range. I'd say do what gives you more joy. The dakkajet, point for point and use for use, will be the better point buy as you can get a lot of mid-strength dakka on the field. But realize you can get the same thing in the form of Lootas. If I ever broke down and bought the kit, I'd probably use the burna bomba because it looks cooler to me.

So competitively? 2 Dakkajets. Otherwise? 1 Dakkajet and 1 Burna Bomba.

I've recently finished assembling my second Dakkajet and found that fielding two of them is very effective. If you're me and you're a speed freek and not using lootas, then Dakkajets are an acceptable alternative.

Dakkajets provide some decent firepower. Upgrade it with the extra super shoota and you have a solid 9 shots at BS3 for non-flying targets. Call your Waagh and its 18. Lootas cost a bit more an are more random because of the D3 but are also stronger so keep that in mind. Dakkajet is a nice distraction and a faster, more mobile one than lootas.

I haven't ran a Burna-Bomber yet however it's the next model I'm getting. A guy plays them over dakkajet a at my FLGS and does decent with them. For him, he prefers templates over shoota shots so they fit his play style nicely. It is also very effective since the my local meta is about 75% Xenos which have more of a 4+ save which the missiles and bombs will negate.

In my opinion if I was In your situation, I would build one of each and try out a few games running one and one or proxying as 2 of the same until you get a good feel for them. I would not run 3 jets with my orks since that's a lot of points in reserve and they don't hover so planning movements is important. I would probably run 2 identical jets though so they were the same type and would be easier to build a strategy with tem due to redundancy.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I think that I'll build one of each and see how I go.

I am of the same opinion as gpfunk. I really like the look of the burna-bomber compared to the dakkajet so I think that I will have a go at building both and see which one fits my play style more.

If you have a lot of lootaz you don't need the second jet that badly for anti air, but Burna bommaz make horde armies cry.

Burna bommers are really great at killing infantry, when I field them I buy then two pairs of missiles, so you can pretty much carpet-bomb a horde unit off the table. However, about the entire ork codex is already pretty good at killing infantry with bad armor saves, including boyz, so you don't really need a plane which kills the same stuff as a unit which are going to bring en masse already. At the very least, a dakka jet will cause only slightly less damage to a unit in cover than a burna bommer, and also costs lest points.

The best tip is to magnetize the planes though. I've full magnetized my three jets, so I can field a dakka jet or burna bommer whenever I want - or the terrible blitza bommer, if I feel silly.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
