I ran them at 2k against eldar/dark eldar last week. Game went well, I was able to squeak out a win on secondary objectives. My list was pretty average I would say, Farsight + named tide. 3 missilesides, 2 squadsof suits, a stealth team, some piranhas and some firewarriors.
Farsight dropping in with 3 dual plasma suits is pretty nice. I was able to basically destroy his beast squad beasts, avoiding his 2++ and 4++ models.
The downside is crisis suits used as troops are expensive and still somewhat fragile. I only had one troop choice left at end of game.

I was looking at a maxed out suit list with 3 riptides, 3 units of pathfinders and farsight.

I don't think you quite got what farsight lists consider "average" if you fielded only 2 suit squads, the lists I saw so far had 4-6 crisis teams.
Farsight is the tau deathwing. and unlike deathwing, crisis suits can actually be fitted into many roles. spamming them is totally viable.
That said, I did not get to play enclave yet (don't have nearly enough suits to make it worthwhile YET) but it seems to work rather well, and bring a highly dynamic fighting style.

XV8s are pretty points heavy. If you did every suit with weapon + weapon + support system you are looking at just under 60 points a pop for a "troop". I think at 1500 or lower a Farsight suit list would be seriously lacking volume of fire and struggle.
I would be interested in seeing some batreps or just army lists to see how people are building them.

I think Crisis Teams make great troop choices mainly if you take double Missile pods on the majority of them that way you can keep them out of harms way with jsj, i would think of the enclave suppliment as a great way of fitting loads of high quality firepower into a list without having to pay a troop tax.
here is the army im thinking of running
Xv8-05 'Enforcer' Commander 152
-2 Missile pods
-Target lock
-Drone Controler
-2 Marker Drones
XV8 'Crisis' team 169 x3
-3 XV8
-6 Missile pods
-Shas'vre
XV8 'Crisis' team 130
-2 XV8
-4 Missile pods
-2 target locks
-3 Marker Drones
XV104 'riptide' 190 x2
-Ion Accelorator
-EWO
-Twin linked Fusion gun
XV104 'riptide' 210
-Heavy burst
-Twin linked SMS
-Earth cast pilot array
-Advanced Targeting array
Skyray 116 x3
-Bsf

You need to remember, maybe its 50-60ish points per troop model, but such a trio will have far more firepower then a tactical squad, and are rather mobile.
Plus, there is a path of "minimalist suits", where you bring just 2 guns and thats it, meaning you can go with 48 points for a bladestorm (plasma/burst), so you are not THAT low on numbers. and as farsight crisis scores, a heatwave (dual wielding flamer) team can take and hold objectives rather well, and costs only 33 per suit.
Support systems CAN be done without. you should ignore them unless that suit in specific needs one.
Its an elite army, just like GK, you WILL be outnumbered, but on the other hand you will be far stronger per-model.
And if you want to have some numbers, just take 3 dakkasuits (burst/burst) with 6 drones.
You will pour 36 S5AP5 shots down range at 201 points. not quite fire warrior efficiency, and no option to ping from afar, but you get many things in return.
Its a pretty good team for pouring shots down at the enemy.
That's why a crisis-only army works. whatever you need, there is a crisis setup for it.

That 36 shots are also more likely to hit something since theyre mobile as crap and way more durable, even the drones. Firewarriors are usually shot up before they get to utilize rapid fire unless you just have a huge blob of them or your opponent is an idiot and charged into an undamaged castle lol
I hate firewarriors. I only take more than the absolute minimum because otherwise its too easy to wipe out my scoring units and now im forced to table you which i probably cant quite do.

So, i dont have access to this until at least october(not a fan of digital).......
My question is can you still take stealth suits and is there any kind of penalty or limit?
Because if you can, I was thinking it might be pretty sweet to out fit your troops all crisis, kitted to take on light and heavy armor and survive, and elites all or mostly stealths(im just not a huge fan of riptides) to mainly troop hunt.
Besides the fact that everyone seems to hate stealthsuits, is this viable? I feel like even if its not, that it will still be a lot of fun to play

Personally I do not like the idea of giving up PEN chip, iridium armor, Multi-spectrum and c&c node just to make crisis troops. Besides the riptide IC none of the named suits are all that great. Their weapon choices are sub optimal and you are better off building your own commander. Then you are also forced to take farsight who is a big point sink for a single plasma shot. I wish they would have made named suits with weapon/gear choices you may actually like.

I played two games with Farsight Enclave the week after it came out. I had a dark eldar player concede by the end of first turn, and a necron player conceded at the end of third turn.
HQ:
2 Commanders with 2 missile pods, drone controller, target lock, 2 shield drones.
Elites:
Riptide with VT,EWO, IA TL FB.
Riptide with VT, earth cast piloting array, HBC, and TL FB.
Troops:
3 crisis suits with 2 plasma rifles, Counterfire defense system. 2 shield Drones.
3 Crisis suits with 2 missile pods, 2 shield drones.
1 crisis suit with 2 fusion blasters, stimulent injector
Fast Attack:
2 units of 5 marker drones, which attach to my commands.
Heavy Support:
2 Hammerheads with Railgun with Submunition, Disruption fields. Sensor spine. One had longstrike.
3 Broadsides, HYMP, SMS, 6 missile drones. I may have given them Sky fire. I am not sure.
It could be that this is really damn good for my local metta, especially since outside of chaos demon flying circus I haven't seem anything too nasty in the air. I think the game against the dark eldar was a fluke. He was a new player and didn't realize how annoying it is to kill riptides, even with poison.

2 commanders with 2 SHIELD drones each?
Color me surprised. I did not expect something like that to work out.
Why not having them markers as well? I doubt their invul is relevant once you hide in a squad of markers.
Also, CDS takes me by surprise as well, always saw it as too situation for its cost (only does anything when you are charged after all)
Shield drones on the deathrains as well? whaaa?
Then you bother giving a stim for a suicide drop suit?
Dude, your list contains some really weird stuff. do you have batreps with it? because I dont really get what's your plan here.

I guess the shield drones are to soak a lot of damage either by Look out Sir, or as a shot soak in the front, when drones die they still give a break test, so i guess its for defensive purposes.
Stim on a suit is a bit silly, i would used a shield gen instead as its cheaper and provide better protection against str8 and above. What pierces a 3+ armor is mostly str8 anyway, and thus a stim is a bit of a waste imo.

I think that stim is actually more useful on a 2W model than the 4+ invul since they will have access to drones to soak up some fire and most weaponry won't deny cover anyways. Better to try and get two saves vice one.
And have to agree with BoomWolf. Shield drones are next to useless. If you put them in front, they'll have you take bolter wounds first so you'll get a 4+ armor anyways with drones. If you put them in back, you can LOS all the same. The only way it really works is if you have a Commander who keeps tossing S8+ shots onto the drone in the hopes that it keeps getting the 4+ invul.

I feel the Farsight Enclave will make a better ally force then a main one. With thought in mind, it will possibly be a better allied force then the base Tau army. When you bring allies you don't bring them for their troops, so why not replace the troops with elites? I've been working on a setup using Farsight enclave as allies, bringing a ton of S7 shooting and anti-air fire.

You can bring a minimum of 23 points of Troops as allies ( naked crisis suit + the knife tax enclave have )
Minimum for normal Tau is 54 or 50 ( Firewarriors or Kroots )
So yeah, a Farisight enclave ally should able to bring troops choices you can deepstrike, have JSJ, can be fitted with any kind of weaponry you ever wanted to fill in gaps, and free up the elite slot for Riptide, and have at you.
Lets see.
Commander - 2x Missile Pod
Crisis suit x 3 - 2x Missile Pod
Broadsides x3 - HYMP
And you land on 469 Points for 28 Str 7 Ap 4 missiles, and 12 str 5 ap 5 ignore cover, homing ( broadside SMS ).
Plus 12 of the Str 7 and the sms is TL, and if you feel frisky you can make the commander a double TL missile pod to add another 4 TL shots at BS 5.

Not that I can find, the only mandatory takes are bonding knives and at least one full unit of XV8 suits which is logical as Farsight can't possibly participate in all the enclave's battles personally.

Though that is also incorrect, he must be taken as warlord if you want the other ICs, nothing more.
