Subject: Of zooming flyers and templates from crash and burn effect....

I had a friend tell me of an instance where in a game where he had his eldar army against his friends necron army the following happened, at one point in the game during the eldar player's shooting phase he shot down the necron player's zooming night scythe which resulted in a crash and burn result. Like normal he rolled for scatter and the template landed over the base of the eldar players zooming hemlock flyer. What happened next was that the necron player claimed that the template can hit the zooming hemlock flyer since the rule book only states that "weapons" with the blast or template characteristics cannot hit a zooming flyer at all. I looked through the rule book and the current MRB FAQ as well and did not find mention of anything which could define the template from the crash and burn result as a weapon nor did I find anything that says " templates or blasts of any kind cannot hit a zooming flyer". I was hoping an another pair of eyes could find something that could clarify this problem if not I see equal for and against this claim. By the way the after resolving the crash and burn template against the hemlock flyer against its rear arm our it ended taking the hemlock out too. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading.

It has a Strength, AP, and a type. For the purpose of HTH, it is a weapon.
