All the cool kids over at ATT were coming up with Fireblades...so I had to succumb to the peer pressure and start one too
I decided to base my Fireblade off a regular body, and mess with the grenade holding arm.
I knew I wanted him holding a sword in that hand...so first things first...I drilled out the grenade, and cleaned up the area:
I knew that I also wanted him to have a top-knot, samurai-style.
Lo and behold in my bits box...Chaos space marine head with top knot! Perfect!!
So then I got looking in my bits box for a sword...here a sword, there a sword, everywhere a sword sword...
Ah ha! An old metal Chaos power sword.
It felt quite Tau-ish to me, so figured "Let's give it a go!"
Snip snip...chop chop...file file...that thing was a pain in the ass to work on. It didn't quite fit the "hilt" I had picked out. Thought I could pin it (in all my years, I've never pinned anything, believe it or not!) but my rod (a paper clip) wouldn't fit inside the blade. I thought "Green stuff?"
I hadn't used green stuff much, except for gap filling. I had some gaps to fill, or at least cover, with the blade/hilt joining. I got inspired by the flowing cloth...thingies...on the converted Ethereals over
here. I thought "Cloth wrap? Or wrap of some kind?" And I came up with this.....my first true use of green stuff to sculpt something...please be gentle
(ignore the backpack, it's just a test...not sure I'm going to put a backpack on him at all)
So here is how he stands (with green stuff added, now):
Time to find a tutorial on how to create a cloak...because that's what I'd like him to have....anyone able to point me in the proper direction?
