Hi here's another 1500 points of Blood Angels I'd like to have critiqued please.

225 - Commander Dante
250 - Sanguinary Guard 5x Infernus Pistols

095 - Sanguinary Priest Power Sword, Meltabombs
230 - Assault Squad (10) Power Sword, Meltabombs, 2x Meltaguns

095 - Sanguinary Priest Power Sword, Meltabombs
230 - Assault Squad (10) Power Sword, Meltabombs, 2x Meltaguns

200 - Stormraven Gunship Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Twin-Linked Assault Cannon
175 - Death Company Jump Packs

1500 Points Total - I know DC Jump Packs...

The idea is to have a Blood Angels army that is iconic and very fluffy. There is an argument for regular DC but I'f I did that I expect there to be a time where I wished they had jump packs This is my first army so magnetising is almost out of the question unfortunately, although I may have a go at the Stormraven.

So what do you think? I would like as much feedback as possible, right down to the SP equipment

Well i think that the army lacks numbers. I'd take more regular assault marines.

Dante, the Stormraven and the DC are killing your model count.

Gotta go with the others on this one. 28 models at 1500 is a bad joke unless you're a Terminator with 2 wounds. (Paladins)

Moar assault marines and maybe a Librarian instead of Dante. If you take out the DC and Dante you can get 1 more full ASM squad and a Librarian.

Take out Danté, he's just no good, especially considering he's a Chapter Master with no Eternal Warrior, who strikes last..

Hmmm ok thanks what would you all suggest then?

When I was looking at just 1000 points I had a list of 3 Assault squads two priests and a libby. Should the 500 points left be used to add in support?

What would you suggest?

Could you upload an army list please?

Try this:

Librarian(Jump Pack)

Sanguinary Priests(X3 Priests, Jump Packs, Meltabombs, X1 PW)

ASM(10 Man, X2 Melta, PF)

ASM(10 Man, X2 Melta, PF)

ASM(10 Man, X2 Plasma, Meltabombs)

ASM(10 Man, X2 Flamer, Power Maul/Sword)

Stomraven

I'd look at something more like...

Mephiston

Assault Squad Fist Melta Melta
Assault Squad Fist Melta Melta
Assault Squad Fist Plasma Plasma

Priest

Stormraven
Stormraven

Probably leaves a couple of points left over. I don't have my codex handy.

These look good, I thought PF were overrated in 6th with all the challenges...

Especially w/ meltabombs. Are just power swords sufficient?

Not really. Meltabombs are for CC with MCs and vehicles, since the ASM sergeant won't win any important challenges anyway.

That's suicide with no commlink.

I assume you mean the Comms Relay, and BA jump packs grant DoA anyway.

I believe Martel is talking about the needing the Comms Relay for the SR. It's the only garunteed way of getting them both turn 2, which is what you want.

Yes, two Stormravens mean you need a comms relay. Otherwise, you risk getting overran like what happened to the last GK player I played. He should have won, but he had too much in Stormravens that didn't show up until the rest of his list was crippled.

Ok - So general consensus, more assault squads (and priests) with stormraven support....?

Ok so how about:

125 - Librarian
230 - Assault Squad

080 - Sanguinary Priest
230 - Assault Squad

080 - Sanguinary Priest
230 - Assault Squad

145 - Predator AC LC sponsons Stormbolter
145 - Predator AC LC sponsons Stormbolter
230 - Stormraven + Hurricane Bolters

1495 Total

Any ideas?

That's much better I think. To be fair, the AC/LC pred has fallen out of favor with many players, but I still have some decent success with it.

I actually don't use any 3X ASM squad lists, so I'm curious to see how this would work.

Foot DC can actually be pretty effective. If you don't use jump packs they are 20 points each. Take 9 with a chaplain in a drop pod with bolters. On the drop you get all the effect of Tac marines. The next turn you move, rapid fire bolters, and using relentless you can still charge. You are getting 4 attacks per model instead of 5 but you had two turns of decent shooting first.

People try that against me. The DC get a ton of melta and plasma to the face and spoiling assaulted. This "next turn" you describe often never comes to pass. It's even worse against lists with real firepower, which the BA don't have. Dropping in a bunch of bolters just isn't impressive. And the turn where the DC can't charge gets them owned.

Most BA lists don't pack any blast weapons. This means that my BA, or anyone else, can stack their army into a tiny area with no repurcussions. There is literally no where the DC can land that I can't assault them with two or more squads. Even as crappy as BA are now, they can still handle DC with 2:1 or greater odds after having shoot the crap out of them. If they drop a dread as well, things get more tricky, but that means the melta/lascannons goes to the dread and the plasma goes to the DC, and THEN I assault them.

DC really need a land raider, which presents its own problems.

Ya it's hit or miss. I like to drop the DC on a flank about 14 inches from an enemy. You don't get the rapid fire on the drop round but it sets you up for the rapid firing and assault on the second round. If the other guy diverts units to counter all the better. If you drop in front of a force or in the middle, then you are correct, they will just get chewed up.

That probably works much better against less mobile armies. I need to borrow a friend's army for some perspective on that. Because the last guy who tried that against me got shot by plasma bikers, MM attack bikers, ASM squad with meltaguns and then assaulted by the assault squad. Unless you have blast weapons to make me space out, most of my BA lists have no flank.

Well ya it's hard to drop anything AGAINST blood angels. That's like setting a gunline up against IG.

No, I've seen plenty of BA lists that I could have totally dropped all over. And a couple I did. Remember, if you drop Sternguard and a fragnought, you basically deciminate two BA squads right there. Also, plenty of BA players spread out across their deployment.
