A few weeks ago I picked up a pack of 35 zombies from mantic games (called Zombie Apokalypse
IIRC) to use in my Nurgle
CSM army and thought I'd write a little review.
I was a little dubious when buying them as they were super cheap, just under £20 on ebay compared to double that for the
GW versions. It noted on the package that it was for experienced modellers only as it wasn't a simple glue A to B kit, it was more of a collection of parts with which to kitbash.
It came with some standard zombies sprues, a few ghoul sprues and 10 Imperial guard equivalent models. The idea is that using these you can bash together a nice unit of 35 zombies with the guard parts giving the unit a futuristic look that makes them fit far better into a
40K force that a standard fantasy zombie.
Now the box wasn't lying when it suggested that it was for more experienced modellers, it contains both plastic and resin parts and to get the best and most varied results you need to do lots of cutting and swapping of arms legs heads and the like.
It took some time to get them all together but I'm really pleased with the results. No two models are the same and they were really easy to paint, I just sprayed brown then drybrushed rotting flesh and boltgun metal added some blood and glowing eyes. I'm a slow painter and it only took me a few hours to paint all of them.
Overall I'm really impressed with the kit especially given the low price point for such a large unit, I'd highly recommend to anyone wanting to play a Tythus list.
