So, I've had my Necron air force tournament list pretty much locked down for the past couple of months - started testing it just before the Tau codex came out. As long as my opponent doesn't take Tau as an ally I can either hold my own or beat the other guy into the dirt depending on how the dice are rolling. If Tau get's involved, even as an ally, I get shredded.

I'm planning on attending the NOVA Open, a most excellent event, at the end of August and I'm concerned I might be walking into a buzz saw all weekend long. I certainly don't intend to walk away with any prizes (well, maybe a door prize but it's no fun being completely blasted off the board either in the majority of my games which is what I'm concerned about. My other option is to drop the cronair list and go with, gasp, a more balanced list and probably take some allies myself. I've tried running wraith wings at other smaller tournies but 6E is just too shooty or at least I'm very good at failing 3+. I also seem to run into psykers with enfeeble a lot which makes wraiths even worse :(

My list related dilemma is this: do I stay the coarse with a well honed list knowing I will pretty much always lose to 2 Broadsides, 1 riptide, 1 commander and a handful of pathfinders or do I crank out a new list?

Second question: How many of you are taking Tau as allies in your tournie lists?

Well if it matters i dont wanna play tau nor will i ever play tau. They taste like chicken

I still Necrons do fine. I don't have any pity for you necron players - you had since 6th edition started until the Tau came out to rape the crap out of most lists - esp allied in with CSM....
So hard to feel too bad for necron players...

i add commander+riptide+adl to armies that dont have anti flyers atm. The chip is awesome.

Necrons + TAU

Sorry wont be running Tau as allies but I run orks and eat Cron air, IG Air Cav, Tau Riptide heavy ..as a snack..and get eaten by IG Mech/Art, Tau Mech(not riptide heavy).. on a regular basis. The rest can go either way ..all depends on the dice.

My advice is:
A) realize like I do that as long as i am playing I am having fun ..Win lose or Draw ..(its running neck and neck since 6th came out )
B) I bring lists that I enjoy Playing with (not Waac).
C) Have Fun

I would not suggest running a cron air force in the current meta.

The tau are such a hard counter for it.
