Hey guys,

basically just want an opinion before I buy this set. As I would be using it as a starter kit with the intention of reasonable and regular use.
I will link to the site, but I cant link direct to the product: http://everythingairbrush.com/acatalog/Harder___Steenbeck_Kits.html

This is what I am looking at:
AB-AS-186 Airbrushing Kit With Silverline 2 in 1 Airbrush Ref: AB-AS186-HS-KIT09
  • Comes supplied with a Evolution Silverline 2 in 1 airbrush from Harder & Steenbeck.
  • Also come with a AS186 mini piston compressor with 3 litre tank for a quantity no problem air supply.

  • As I have been looking at getting the Evolution silverline 2 in 1 airbrush anyway, and with this il also get a compressor with a tank.

    the airbrush is what i am looking to upgrade to and i would say is more than you would need for a starter airbrush i have heard very good things about it so i dont think you can go too wrong with it.

    the compressor is very similar to what i have and i find it suits my needs perfectly.

    Thanks for the reply. Yeh I thought the brush would be good in that I can keep it for a good while and not be held back by limiting my equipment I have a cheapo one atm that I want to replace, and the compressor is also an upgrade from a very cheap one.

    il probably put the order in later today

    I would like to know how you find the transition from a cheap airbrush to the evolution as i am looking to pick one up myself.

    il let you know

    The main thing im finding with the cheap one I have, is that with 0.4mm nozzle I am already limited to sort of undercoats and vehicles. hopefully the 0.2 with the new airbrush will give me a lot more scope for finer work.

    I did just that.
    When i got my first cheap airbrush I was like 'woooooooooooow awesome, I can do so much more using this than before!'
    same thing happened when I got my evolution silverline 2 in 1

    When I went to a fine brush from my cheap one, it was amazing.

    However, a finer tip also means;
    * need better quality and thinner paints to use.
    * more frequent cleaning
    * precision parts take care not to damage or bend them.

    Now that I have more than one (or two...) air brushes, I find I use each for different jobs - if I am priming a model for example, or doing base coating - I use the less precision brush with a bigger needle. When doing very subtle shading, or smaller details I use the finer brush....etc.

    Best of luck, and let us know how it works out!
