In Advance, I'm Sorry About The Caps Stuff. I Can't Help It Or Do Anything About It. I've Tried.

As The Title Says, I'm Wondering About Kutlahk The World Eater From The IA 12 Book. Is He Really Worth The Points? I KnOw His Cqb Weapon Is ID, But With His Standard Necron Initiative, Lack Of MSS, And Low Toughness I Don't Know If He'll Actually Get To Hit In An Assault. Since He Must Challenge When He Gets To Cqb He'd Almost Have To Save All Wounds Or Get ID'd. My Group Always Has Power Fists (Str10) Or Abbadon, Mephiston, Dante, Etc. I Don't Want To Drop More Points Than I Would For Imotek If He's Just Gonna Get Wiped First Thing. We Usually Play Between 1750-2000Pt Games. Mostly Against C:SM, But Also Against Everything But DE.

on the forum. Obviously

Yes he is. He will murder anything that touches him. He doesn't need MSS due to splinter of madness, which can potentially stop his opponents from fighting him.

T5 is low? Since when?

S5, Ap2, instant death, plenty of attacks, Armor and a phase shifter and other goodies I'm probably forgetting.

Yeah this Nemesor is a mean customer.

They have an S8 nemesis force hammer which can cause instant death, but Kutlakh has a three up for a reason. Not to mention he hits before the Hammer user and can carve him open like a turkey.

Ok.I Was Under The Impression That Gk Termies Were S5 And The Power Fist Doubles Str, Which Would Give them S10.

The knights don't get fists on anything but the DK, but they do get hammers.

Most Walkers.

That said, you should be more worried about Monstrous Creatures, who can Smash you at S10 without having to strike at I1.

The best State-Texas

I used Kutlakh a lot when I was tinkering with Dark Harvest lists.

A few things to keep in mind:

He's slow, so he needs a CCB. This will generally be a target priority for the enemy, so keep that in mind.

He does have WS 5 and a Staff of light, and 1 more base attack than typical Overlords. Don't forget that, as it's pretty important. He's also Fearless, and causes fear.

He can't issue/accept challenges from a chariot, so if you're worried about that, stay on the chariot if you can. I personally like his Splinter of Madness rule a lot, and I generally want to be in a challenge with him.

While you generally don't want to be in CC with MCs, keep a few things in mind.

Splinter of Madness can make a huge difference, dropping the enemies weapon skill. If they are hitting on 4's instead of 3's, Smash becomes much less scary. They have to hit, then wound, then you have to fail your save for ID. Granted, with only Str 5, you don't really want to be in combat with them either. Don't forget he has Crusader as well, which can help a great deal.

Overall, he's fun, but I feel Destroyer Lords are still the more competitive choice.
