Hey guys quick question. What kind of cover saves do necron scarab swarms get. I ask because I read some posts about 3+cover saves and was wondering where they got that from. Was that last edition?

If they have stealth or shrouded (Due to night fighting or some other circumstance) they can get a 3+ cover save.

They can also get a 3+ cover save from a purpose built fortification (Not the ADL, just a terrain piece classified as a purpose built fortification), as per the cover save rules.

But normally they get the cover save of whatever is hiding them, just like any other unit.

Is it a special rule with swarms and night fighting that gives them the 3+

IIRC, Swarms automatically had Stealth in 5th Edition, but they don't have that anymore, so their cover save is exactly the same as any other models.

Scarabs simply follow all the normal Cover rules. Night fighting will net them a better save, but nothing that any other unit couldn't get too. No special rules, no innate bonus, just good 'ole fashioned cover saves.

They get the same rules as everything else. No innate bonuses.

If there's night fighting they will get a 3+ cover save if they are far enough. With necrons that's easy to get.

The problem comes from last edition. Not only rules but codex. The necron scarabs were both jetbikes and swarm so had innate stealth. They have neither now.
