The idea is thus. If I have first turn, nobody embarks on their transports and I threaten up to 17 Raiders and their equivalents with S6+ shooting up the wazoo. Night fighting is nulled by all those searchlights and demolishers utterly overkill whatever survived the explosions.

If I don't have first turn, everyone embarks. Although thinking about it, I think embarked troops can fire at different targets than the transport, which would be mega.

This all stems from my belief that DEldar strength comes from their origami transports. Once they're out, small blast GL's enjoy the lulz. Maybe swap out some for flamers.

What do you think? If you're using the DEldar, how would you line up against this list?

Very good list for taking on de, I am a de player and I always hated when my friend would stock up on mid strength long ranged dakka. The only way I can see the de besting a list like this is if they take a plethora of dl's and get the first turn, which if those criteria are met than you might be toast, but lists like that are far less common now than they were in 5th. Best of luck!

Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

The Twilight Zone

You are much better off keeping your troops safe and sound in the metal boxes. Poison dakka from venoms and the bodies inside raiders/venoms will chew through your squads and be maneuvered to snipe out the auto cannons.

I think demolishers are a bad choice against DE, as there is nothing you need that splat cannon against short of a grotesque blob. The other thing about russes is that Av14 is really AV 12 against every lance weapon your opponent brings(which will be numerous and make up most to almost all the AT they can field). If you insist on a russ, keep em dakka as you need to outshoot them quick, not wait a turn or two to splat cannon which can be negated by a lucky jink save or bad scatter.

Something you should take into account is that DE will probably have night shields on every skimmer they bring, reducing your shooting range by 6". Not much, as DE have 3' guns as well so you can just move 6 the next turn to get back into range, but it does matter for compounding fire(multiple guns in range of multiple targets), your grenade launchers, demo cannons etc. You will also be shooting through a jink save and possibly a flickerfield, a 5++ outright.

I strongly suggest hellhounds, as they can keep up with DE, have side armor 12 to negate flank shots, and their cannons are lethal to everything DE bring. You can torrent down almost any infantary, reaver jetbikes, beastpacks and skimmers with ease. The flame is unaffected by the night shields, and will burn through jink. It will also auto hit, giving you a decent chance of scoring a pin.

If I was bringing a mono DE list to fight this, I would have triple ravagers, and at least 4 or 5 raiders with cheap troops inside. Three venoms with blasterborne inside, and then maybe a giant beastpack(maybe all khymerae) with the baron.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Oh I do love a Demolisher cannon though!

All good points, hellhounds are a treat and AV12 does turn a DL into a ML, which is lovely in and of itself. I'd be tempted to trade them in for three manticores but that's almost too harsh!

That's a disgusting list for DE to face!
