Looking to paint my tactical marines up and I cant decide between 3rd and 5th company markings (3rd would prolly be easier), looked around to find some fluff on both and came up blank.

Anyone have any fluff based stuff on either one of them - minus the dark vengeance stuff.

easy enough, look for stories of tactical marines in purging of kadillus, that's a combat action of the 3rd company with Belial at its head. also, if you read ravenwing, the "green marines" in that are all of the 5th if i remember correctly.

Battle for Piscina IV is Belial's Company, the Third.

I am painting up my battle company as the DA's 3rd battle company. Easy to do and I really liked the story for the Battle of Piscina IV.

The both have had notable engagements like:
Piscina IV and Kurin's Acropolis for 3rd company
Faze Uprising and Dark Vengeance for 5th company
But that is just from the codex. There could be more; I just don't have the literature on them.

I'm painting mine as 5th company. If you plan on doing 5th company though I advise the angels of vengeance transfer sheet it has the perfect 5th company markings on it which I just stick on the knees.
