Subject: gamepad with an emulator?

Hello, I come before you all with a technical question (well, not that technical, but still).
I have been spending some time in China, which has seriously put a bind on my Youtube channel. I plan on doing an "I'm back!" special, and was thinking about playing some kind of a console game on an emulator. Suggestions are fine, but I'm looking at Star Wars podracing since I really loved that game back when I owned it and it should be pretty easy to play casually.
Here's the question, I'm probably going to use Project 64 since I've had a tiny bit of experience with that emulator and it seems to work fine. I'm assuming that getting a game pad to work with it is pretty easy, but I really know nothing about it. Also, is there any controllers anybody wants to recommend? I'd prefer something wireless if that's possible since my USB ports are reserved for microphone and external harddrive (my laptop has a bluetooth setup built in) although I can use my laptop's built in horrible mic if I have to go wired.
Also, just because I feel like it, I might be turning the video into some kind of drinking game (because I always enjoy videos of drunk people playing video games) so if anybody has any suggestions for that feel free to suggest them.

There are Bluetooth gamepads for PC. And if it's just gonna be used with emulators I'd just take whatever's cheapest.

I'm not sure if pod racing has the same mechanics as other racers, but... one pretty cool drinking game I've seen involves going off the track. You need a few shots lined up next to each player, if you go off the side you have to down a shot in the few seconds' downtime before you get racing again.
Mix with Mario Kart's Rainbow Road or Ghost Castle for best results.

Got an USB Hub around? You can buy those for a very low price right now.

USB hub is a...surprisingly good idea. I can't believe I didn't think of it. I'm guessing the hard drive needs its own since the screen recording software is dumping data into it at a prodigious rate, but the mic and gamepad can probably share a port (I have 4 USB ports on my laptop, but for some reason only two work anymore).
I was planning to mix up my own revolting recipe involving vodka and Java Monster energy drinks. I have enough self control that I don't get "interesting drunk" very easily.
I'm thinking of taking a drink every time I crash and also having to drink every lap (that one will be fun. I'd have to try and drink without putting the controller down if I don't want to lose time). Maybe something like I need to finish above a certain place and if I don't then I take 2-3 drinks and restart. If I recall from my childhood the first few races are amazingly easy and I got first place on pretty much everything without trying for the first half of the game, so for the couple of hours I'll be playing I shouldn't hit the brick wall. Although if i do that could be amusing.
