Well Hello There!

This feels slightly odd, but notwithstanding it appears to be the done thing so...

I started War Games with GW products in around 1993 with my best mate who I haven't seen in around a suns half life. I played Blood bowl with a skaven team, and played Necromunda with every gang available in my collection, my favourite were the "vans" up hivers, I really liked the tech look of them. I'm struggling to recall the names now as I type. There were some hooded ones that were really cool too! We built alot of our scenery and I really enjoyed the games. I didn't play proper battles until last year though, but we'll get to that!

I used to paint Dark Angels, and in the nineties they were truly outcasts! However after around 15 years away from the hobby I started painting again in around 2010. I began with an NMM attempt of Commander Dante and did quite well (I think) rating well on a popular miniature posting site.

I've painted where time allows and got my hands on Dark Vengeance in December 2012. I have been painting a Dark Angels force over the past year and have used this to experiment with paint effects and airbrushing. I really haven't got the hang of the airbrush yet, but I will slowly get there. It seems to come down to getting the right paint viscosity. I use paintbrush for mini's and still keep the gun to large stuff, as my confidence grows I may try gunning little stuff, but until then...

I have really enjoyed battling with a friend locally whose patience and good humour has seen me really get into table top gaming. My Dark Angels force are my focus, but the lure of chaos is strong and I fully intend to expand on the mini's provided in Dark vengeance to create either a Word Bearers or World Eaters army. I think I'll probably look to go with the Word Bearers as I don't like too much gore on my miniatures.

My ambition is to get good enough to compete, or at least not look too amusing entering my efforts. I'm not there yet but look to improve with every effort and really enjoy feedback when it is useful.

I do have a Blog, however intend to start one with Dakkadakka, it will look at the way the Hobby can help with so many other aspects of life rather than painting or modelling, as I feel there are enough experts out there without a rouge amateur giving you duff advice.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
