Hello!

I've played a number of games with different setups in the 1500/1750 size now, and played the last 5-6 games with Typhus as HQ. The reason for my post is that I'm not happy with the results of shocking him in or with the performance of Chaos Termis as escort.

I'm now considering three options:

a) Typhus (230) + 5 Termis (227 w/MoN etc) -> walk across the board (457 points total)
b) Typhus (230) + 4 Termis (380 w/Mon + LR) -> drive up in Land Raider (610 points total)
c) Typhus (230) + 8 Plague Marines (220 w/2xMelter, etc) + Land Raider (230) -> drive up in Land Raider (680 points total)

Since the Chaos Termis only get a syncro bolter and can't get stormshields or FnP, they don't exactly sparkle next to the Plague Marines in my eyes.
Plague marines would have the added benefit of being able to capture an objective on the other side of the table also and twice as many fit into the LR next to Typhus.

My pick among those options would be C, which makes the list look like this:

2 HQ
Typhus
- - - > 230 Points
Chaosgeneral, Mark of Khorne, Verterans of the Long War
+ Boltpistol, Axe of Blind Fury -> 35 Pts.
+ Juggernaut of Khorne -> 35 Pts.
+ Melta bombs, Sigil of Corruption -> 30 Pts.
- - - > 180 Points

3 Standard
8 Plague marines, 2 x Melter, Verterans of the Long War
+ Plague champion, Bolt pistol, Plague knife, Bolter -> 0 Pts.
- - - > 220 Points
20 Plague zombies
- - - > 90 Points
20 Plague zombies
- - - > 90 Points

3 Fast Attack
Heldrake, Baleflamer
- - - > 170 Points
3 Chaos Spawns
- - - > 90 Points
5 Raptors, Mark of Slaanesh, Icon of Excess, Verterans of the Long War, 2 x Plasmapistol
+ Raptorchampion, 1 x Power sword, 1 x Plasmapistol -> 40 Pts.
- - - > 205 Points

2 Heavy Support
3 Obliterators, Mark of Nurgle, Verterans of the Long War
- - - > 237 Points
Chaos Land Raider
- - - > 230 Points

Total points Chaos Space Marines : 1742

Note:
- If anything in the army list sounds funny, it's because I manually translated it from a German language army list tool. ;-]
- A few points are left, but that allows some minor changes somewhere.
- I could replace the raptors with another heldrake if so inclined. I deliberately avoided using another Heldrake to not be too naughty for a friendly game.

How would/do you guys bring Typhus into play? I'm also more than happy to hear any criticism on my list in general.
Thank you!

I run Typhus periodically, and I usually use him to guard my backfield. Boring, I know, but I run him with a bunch of zombies, multiple Heldrakes, and Daemon allies. So the Drakes and Daemons handle everything downfield, and Typhus lays the hurt on anything that tries to take my objectives.

Thank you for your reply! In your setup, Thyphus is the goalie and you have a bunch of flying monsterous creatures and the drakes lay waste to the downfield?
Could you share a list in that direction? Of course I wouldn't want you to post any advance warning for your next tournament.

I had a look at your Gallery pictures and had to laugh out loud. I bet if you field those puppies at a tournament you'll get some amused as well as some dismayed and distracted reactions! =]
The head-changes should be nigh-uncomplainable, but don't you get into issues with the proxy puppies in tournaments?

I ran the puppies at both Nashcon and Fight Club Atlanta with no real issues (and as I made final table at FC:A and top 5 at Nashcon, they got tons of attention). Although at ATC I was told I could use them, but I would be deducted points (as they are technically unpainted) and I did not want to penalize the team. Generally, I think because they match my theme, no one complains about them too much. Most opponents think they are hilarious, a few have gotten mad.

So, Typhus. My favorite Typhus list is the "Zombie Apocalypse" I wouldn't bring it to a tournament because it plays slow, but I think it's a strong list. (all of these are off of memory, so points aren't perfect)

Typhus
208 Zombies
Heldrake (baleflamer)
Lord of Change (lesser, greater, greater, lvl 3)
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch (lesser, greater, greater, lvl 3, wings armor)
10 Daemonettes

A list I STRONGLY considered bringing to ATC (and probably should have, too late now, lists are submitted. I think this is a fantastic list. Durable scoring, three AV13, 6 fliers, mobile scoring, death star removal with the Deathmarks)

Typhus
As many Zombies as fit (50-60)
3 Heldrakes (all baleflamers)
2 Predators

Overlord
Cryptec (despair)
5 Deathmarks with Nightscythe
2 squads of 5 Warriors with Nightscythes
Annihlation Barge
Aegis with Comms Relay

And lastly, the list I was talking about (which changed a lot, I play tested the hell out of it)

Typhus
50-60 Zombies
Nurgle Bikers (sometimes I ran them with a Lord, once or twice I tried Spawn with a Lord)
Two Drakes (one baleflamer, one autocannon)
Fateweaver (tried it with a LoC as well)
15-20 Fleshhounds
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch (lvl 3, wings, armor, greater, exalted)
two squads of 10 Daemonettes
Aegis or Bastion with a Comms Relay

Edit: Thanks for the comments on the gallery, I love my Daemons Army.
