How are the use of non-offical Warhammer figures viewed? I have a ton of orcs (like hundreds) but they are mostly old 80s Ral Partha and RAFM minis. If they are mounted on proper sized bases do people care?

If they're mounted on the right size bases and actually look something like orcs, then no-one will care. As long as you're not playing in a GW store, obviously.

These guys?
They have a metric ton of charcacter. I would love to play against an army like that.
But you're not gonna be allowed to play them at any GW sponsored event, and likely you may even have trouble at non- GW tournaments.
Friendly games though, people accept empty filler bases readily. They'll surely accept an army you've modded up like this.

In my experience even tournaments don't give a crap as long as your opponents don't get confused as to what is what, so literally anywhere but a gw store it's fine.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Check out battle forge miniatures on eBay. They are the same scale as the old gw ones plus lots of variety.
